Zoe Howell, a self taught chef and urban gardener, was inspired to launch Pollen + Nectar while designing, planning and then creating a wonderful veggie garden oasis in the parking lot of her downtown Los Angeles loft residence! The
Pollen + Nectar brand is a lifestyle concept rooted in organic farming practices and all the byproducts of this way of living. Zoe designs, grows and manages urban ga

rdens. She also incorporates fruits, vegetables and herbs from these gardens, along with other high quality goods sourced from farmers markets to create beautiful dining experiences that transport diners back to a more simple way of living and being. Zoe’s goal is to bridge the gap between consumer and farmer. It’s that simple.

Feeling the cozy fall vibes of this platter in my kitchen. Thankful for the abundance and perfect simplicity of this season’s vegetables. “Peak Season” is a lifestyle and a lesson in gratitude and discipline, teaching us to savor the very best of what is available for limited moments in time. Stay connected to The Real Ones in your life. Embrace those who love and support you, and cheer you on. Give the same in return. Humans need connection with each other, with ourselves and with the world beyond. There is light, there is beauty and there is hope.

These insanely gorgeous portrait quilts by remind us that we can in fact hold each other close, love ourselves and feel empathy, especially in times of crisis. Loved her show and am thankful for the always powerful message that love will conquer hate.

I received a surprise delivery of impeccably gorgeous produce today. During these challenging times, the gift of fresh, life-giving food is incredibly profound. I paused for a moment as the very kind delivery person handed me the box. I looked at him and I felt a wave of emotion run through me. I take nothing for granted. I am so thankful for all who work hard to grow beautiful food and to those who work to get the food to people. I am thankful for friends who show up for me and keep me lifted. This moment hit me today in a way that I wasn’t expecting and I consider myself so fortunate for the essential fuel I’ve been given to keep going. I’ll leave it at that. 🙏🏾

Art heals. Art liberates us. Art brings us together. Music is art and it does the same. I am one of the fortunate humans on the planet that got to immerse in Derek Fordjour’s EPIC installation, Nightsong, which was a beyond immersive journey through black music, our voices, our experience. Literally every piece in this show was incredibly moving. I FELT the stories and the Movement and I LIVED the songs. All of them. The live performances in each room lifted and connected me and all of us to the movement that has been historically ours but it also brought out our joy and our pride and our love. And our beauty. No matter what, we will sing! We will dance!! What brought me to tears was when “Optimistic” by Sounds of Blackness came on and literally everyone in the gallery started singing and dancing!!! That song is the uplift that has always been on our playlists!!! I cried!!! Thank you for putting out the call. We heard you and we answered. You really did something so special and so important with this offering. You’ve changed lives. You’ve reminded us of our magic and you’ve given us hope. All of this is what the world needs now, more than ever.
I stood in line for 3 hours to get into the last evening of the show. In that line, I saw the parade of beauty all around me. People of all ages, races, identities, coming and going… it was a supreme gathering of like minded humans and I was thankful that I COULD stand in that line to support this important work. Feeling so inspired by the whole moment. 🙏🏾

“Practice being present in the here and now. It’s all we have, and it’s a lot.” The work right now is making a focused effort to stay in The Now. Embrace opportunities that bring joy, love your people, lift those you don’t know but are fellow humans worthy of a safe and healthy life, take time to breathe and be. Hug the earth, the animals and yourself. Resilience, joy and faith are good pillars for this moment. Hold onto your light, wear those sequins and say, “F**k it. I’m going to have a good time- here and now!” It’s not easy but it is necessary. Seeing the legendary was one of those immensely joyful and uplifting moments. She’s so inspiring for so many reasons. I’m so thankful for friends who’ll put their sparkles on with me and go out to light up the world✨💫✨
