Spicy Garlic Butter Shrimp with Shallots & Chili
Serves: 4

Ingredients
2 lb (900 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
8 cloves garlic, roughly chopped
8 small shallots, peeled
5–7 red chilies, sliced
2 green onions, sliced
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 teaspoon dried parsley or chopped fresh parsley
½ teaspoon chili flakes, optional
2 tablespoons water

Instructions
Season the shrimp:
Pat the shrimp dry. Season with salt and black pepper.
Sauté the aromatics:
Heat the oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and shallots. Sauté until fragrant and lightly golden.
Add the chilies:
Add the sliced red chilies and cook for about 1–2 minutes.
Cook the shrimp:
Add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque.
Make it flavorful:
Add oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, chili flakes, and water. Toss everything together until the shrimp are beautifully coated in the spicy garlic-butter sauce.
Finish:
Add green onions and parsley. Toss for another 30 seconds, then turn off the heat.
Serve:
Serve hot with steamed white rice, noodles, or crusty bread to soak up the delicious sauce.
Pro Tip: Don’t overcook the shrimp. As soon as they turn pink and opaque, remove them from the heat to keep them juicy and tender.
