"¡Solidaridad, no caridad!"
We are Comida No Bombas L.A., a horizontal collective sharing free vegan meals to the people, on bicycles. "Solidarity, not charity!"
Our Points of Unity:
1) Freedom from Necessity (We are moved to share the wasted abundance of food, clothing, shelter, healthcare, and education, and for all of these to be recognized, not as rights, but as basic needs).
2) CNBxLA ope
rates on a horizontal method of self-governance. We make decisions as a collective based on the consensus of those present. (Why we value being present, or change the word to another? “based on the consensus of active members”?)
3) Braver Spaces - “speaking up when someone is out of line.” We are a POC lead collective, open to allies that strive to learn, practice and promote anti-sexist, anti-racist, anti-capitalist and pro-LGBTQIA/GNC ways of being and identifying.
4) We strive to practice accountability, denying the punitive measures of the state, and instead seek to mitigate wounds inflicted upon/by our community with regenerative intentions. We strive for a dynamic process of accountability that evolves with the issues we face as they occur.
5) Solidarity Not Charity! We recognize ourselves in common struggle with all oppressed peoples globally and historically. And although we welcome resources and collaborations with other grassroot collectives/ organizations, we are an autonomous collective ideologically distanced from the Nonprofit Industrial Complex.
6) Cooperation Not Incorporation. We encourage people to listen, identify and respond (by any means necessary) to the needs of their communities.
7) By providing accessibility to otherwise discarded food we work towards independence from the wasteful commercial food industry, promoting informed choices that reflect humane and sustainable food sovereignty.
8) We encourage alternative methods of mobility that free us from reliance on energy sources that destroy the natural world.
