Root Shoot Malting is a 5th generation family farm and craft malthouse that supplies the Rocky Mountain region with craft malt and grains. Founded by the Olander family in 2016, Root Shoot harvests barley, wheat, rye and corn to give craft brewers and distillers high-quality taste in every glass. Located on the Olander Farms’ 112-acre farm in Loveland, Colorado, and approximately 1500 leased acres

, Root Shoot is working to ensure that farmland remains available to grow grains for the beers and spirits of tomorrow.

Well… that was a Field Day. 🌾🍻🥃
To everyone who came out to celebrate 10 years of Root Shoot and 100 years of Olander Farms with us... thank you. Seriously.

🙏Thank you to the brewers and distillers who filled our taps and tables. The musicians who played on the hay bale stage. The volunteers who hauled, poured, checked people in, served food, cleaned up, and jumped in wherever we needed them. Our sponsors and partners who continue to support this farm and what we’re building here.

And thank YOU for showing up. For drinking beer made with our grain, eating dinner in our field, touring the malthouse, picking corn, wearing parkas in August, and spending a Saturday with our family and crew.

🎉Field Day takes a whole lot of people to pull off, and seeing that many friends, customers, brewers, distillers, farmers, family members and longtime supporters gathered together on the farm made all the work worth it.

Our cups (and apparently 15 kegs) are empty, but our hearts are pretty dang full. ❤️🌾

🍻 Happy Friday!

We teamed up with our pals Barrels & Bottles Brewery and Cannonball Creek Brewing Co. to brew something special for the brewers headed to Krispy King Lager Fest during GABF. An Italian Pils made with Root Shoot's Genie Pale & Low Color Pils.

This one’s going straight into the brewer welcome bags, because apparently the proper way to say “welcome to Colorado” is with a lager. 🌾🍺

Good malt. Good people. More lager than anyone reasonably needs in one place.

Forget visions of sugar plums, we’ve got visions of Märzens and Festbiers dancing in our heads.

Salt Road Brewing is kicking off the season with a Märzen brewed with Root Shoot Vienna malt, and we know they’re not the only ones. 👀

📸 Consider this your July photo dump!

Summer is in full swing, and around here that means brewery patios are packed, collaboration brews are a plenty, live music is everywhere, and we're lucky enough to spend time with so many of our brewery friends.

Here's a little of what the summer looks like around Root Shoot:

🍻 Huge congrats to our friends Prost Brewing Co on opening their Wheat Ridge location! The space is gorgeous, and we can't wait to spend plenty of time on the patio (when it’s not 104° 🥵)

🎉 Mirror Image Brewing Company hosted our crew for a Low Color Pils brew day. You'll get to taste this one at our upcoming Field Day!

🤠 When the official craft beer of the Larimer County Fair is brewed with your malt, the cowboy hat isn't optional...it's part of the uniform. Thanks, Grimm Brothers Brewing - Taproom + Kitchen, for helping celebrate 100 years of Olander Farms!

🚢 YachtRock Fest was an absolute blast. Always fun supporting our fellow craft maltsters Troubadour Maltings. Nice work, Full Frame Beer!

🚜 Littleton Brewing Company hosted a MEGA Denver brewery collaboration where the mission was simple: use ALL THE MALTS. Every single Root Shoot malt made its way into this Landbier. Brewers, don't miss this beer of all beers at Field Day!

🥃 Farmer Todd spent an evening signing bottles at Sevengrand ahead of our Peach Brandy Cask-Finished American Single Malt release. Thanks for the sweet space and the yummy cocktails.

🎶 We never pass up a chance to catch Root Shoot's own Christian Roberts playing at City Star Brewing. Still the best malt truck-driving, guitar-shredding delivery guy we know.

🍻 Colorado Springs showed up in a big way for the COSMBA (mountain bike trails!) collabbrew! Hosted by Mash Mechanix Brewing Co with , Urban Animal, Cerberus Brewing Company, Wackadoo Brewing, Fossil Craft Beer Company, , and organized by . The result? A New Zealand Pilsner brewed with 100% Root Shoot Genie Pilsner malt.

🫘 And finally... 20 gallons of beans made with Olander Farms beef. Because no Root Shoot Field Day is complete without them. Roll that beautiful bean footage.

If July was any indication, August is going to be one heck of a month. Next up... Field Day! 🌾🍻

🙊We'll say it.

We get irrationally excited when our Root Shoot breweries win beer medals.🥇Not because shiny medals are cool (okay...they are), but because every medal-winning beer starts somewhere.

And for seven beers recognized at this year's U.S. Open Beer Championship, that story started in our barley fields before ever reaching a brewhouse.🚜

🌾💙🇺🇸 Happy Colorado Day!

Today, Colorado celebrates 150 years of statehood. And here at Root Shoot, we're celebrating a milestone of our own: 100 years of farming this incredible land.

For five generations, our family has worked these fields, adapting, growing, and carrying on a tradition that's passed down in every grain we sow, grow, and malt... right here on our own farm.

We're proud to call this state home, grateful to be part of its agricultural legacy, and excited to help shape its future... one field, one malt, and one beverage at a time.

Here's to 150 years of Colorado, 100 years of Olander Farms, and many more harvests ahead. 🌾💙
