What is that one nostalgic meal that instantly takes you back home?
If youāve been here since day one, you know my absolute favorite dish is carne en chile colorado (aka asado de puerco or asado de boda etcccc).
Every time I make it, I think of my Ama (my great-grandmother) dragging me along to her comadres' house to prep huge pots of it for weddings and quinceaƱeras.
That deep connection is exactly why it was the very first meal I ever sold. Honestly, Iām still searching for a spot in Lubbock that makes a rich, deeply flavorful beef version that lives up to those memories.
My Ama has been on my mind heavy lately. I wish I could talk to her, but I know sheās still with me in the kitchen and here through every high and low.
This space started as a simple outlet to share my food and thoughts, but it has truly evolved into so much more.
