🐰 4-H Rabbit Pickups are officially complete! 🐰

We want to thank each and every family who chose Dirt Poor Rabbitry and Farms for their 4-H project this year. Your support means so much to us!

If you picked up on Saturday, we especially appreciate your patience as things got a little hectic for a while. We learned a lot from this year's pickup process and will most likely return to scheduled time slots for each family next year to help everything run more smoothly.

As always, we are here to help! If you have questions about your rabbit, feeding, grooming, health, showmanship, or anything else, don't hesitate to reach out. We love helping our exhibitors succeed.

Thank you again for all the love and support. We are excited to watch these young exhibitors grow and can't wait to see everyone at the Pike County Fair! πŸ‡β€οΈπŸŽ‘

πŸ°πŸ“ˆ CALIFORNIAN & NEW ZEALAND RABBIT GROWTH CHART πŸ“ˆπŸ°

Ever wonder if your rabbit is growing on track? Weighing your market rabbits at least 2x a week is very important. We've put together this simple weight and growth chart to help 4-H families track their rabbits from time of possession through market age. We truly cannot stress enough the importance of this!

Keep in mind that these weights are averages and can vary based on:
βœ… Genetics
βœ… Litter size
βœ… Feed quality
βœ… Overall health and management

For market projects, rabbits typically reach fryer weight around 8-10 weeks of age, making this chart a great tool for planning ahead and monitoring progress.

Save this chart for future reference and feel free to share it with other rabbit families!

We are so excited to see everyone over the next few days at rabbit pick ups! We wanted to share this with you all and we encourage the kids to pick their own rabbits based on this information not how pretty they are or their size. And as always we are here to guide them!

A huge THANK YOU to Derek Byers and Byers Trucking for always being so accommodating and allowing my husband to make stops to pick up things we need when needed. We truly appreciate the flexibility and support! πŸ™Œ

As many of you know, we endured a difficult situation a few weeks ago. After taking some time to regroup and carefully plan our next steps, we've decided to begin rebuilding Dirt Poor Rabbitry one rabbit at a time.

Today marks the first step in that journey! We are excited to welcome an outstanding Californian doe to our rabbitry. She comes from top-quality bloodlines from both Indiana and Ohio, featuring Grand Champion genetics known for excellence in both meat production and the show ring.

We are incredibly impressed with her size, structure, and overall build. We couldn't be more excited to add her to our breeding program and see what she contributes to the future of our rabbitry.

Be sure to keep an eye on this beautiful doeβ€”she just might make an appearance at the 2026 Pike County Fair Breeding Rabbit Show!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us during this rebuilding process. We are excited for what the future holds! πŸ‡πŸ’™
