Hi all! 🐰

We got all of our rabbits moved into the new barn over the weekend despite all the rain! 🌧️ We’re still getting everything in place and organized, but once it’s all finished up we’ll post pictures/videos and give everyone a little tour of the new setup.

We have contacted everyone currently on our waiting list regarding rabbits. We may possibly have a few extras available — if we do not hear back from everyone by May 31st, we will make a post with what is available.

The kits are doing amazing! They’re all starting to venture out of the nest boxes, nibble on food, and explore more every day. They are also being introduced to Apple Conditioner and Muscle Maxx and are doing great with it so far.

Enjoy these little cuties peeking out of their nest box! 🥹🐇

Today at Dirt Poor Rabbitry, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸

Memorial Day is more than cookouts and long weekends — it’s a day to reflect on the courage, service, and selflessness of those who gave everything for this country.

We are forever grateful for our fallen heroes and the families who carry their memories each day.

From our rabbitry family to yours, we hope everyone has a safe, peaceful, and meaningful Memorial Day. ❤️🤍💙

Rabbitry Update 🐇

Sadly, we lost little Rico yesterday. The stress and trauma were just too much for his tiny body to overcome. We also came home to discover another doe had sadly succumbed to her injuries, and we found another injured doe that we had unfortunately overlooked. She is now receiving treatment and being closely monitored.

While this week has been incredibly difficult, we do have some positives to hold onto. We have welcomed a beautiful new doe with an amazing bloodline to the rabbitry, and all 89 of our kits are currently thriving and doing well.

We truly cannot thank everyone enough for the love, support, prayers, and kindness shown to us this past week and always. It means more than you know during times like these.

This weekend we will be working hard to transition into our new barn and implement even more safety measures to help protect our rabbits moving forward. Thank you all for continuing to stand behind Dirt Poor Rabbitry through the highs and lows. ❤️

We have been getting a lot of questions regarding the Conditioner and Muscle Maxx, so we wanted to share some clarification!

The information below was pulled directly from the maker’s site and we hope this helps answer some of the common questions we’ve been receiving.

If you are thinkingof purchasing these,, we recommend approximately 2–3 lbs per rabbit, as they only receive 1 tsp per day per rabbit. As always, every rabbit is different, so feeding and results can vary, but we have personallyused both on all our rabbits and hughly reccomend using both.

Everyone meet Rico! 🤎🐰
This little fighter is one of the survivors from our tragic event on Tuesday. At this time, Rico’s gender is still undetermined, but what we do know is this tiny kit has already shown so much strength.
Rico currently has a fractured hind leg along with a few wounds, so we are carefully caring for this baby inside our home to help prevent the leg from being reinjured and to keep everything clean while healing. We take Rico out twice a day to nurse with one of our mommas and make sure this little one is getting all the love and nutrition possible.
And get this… Rico only weighs a whopping 0.03 lbs! 🥺
We know the road ahead may not be easy, but we’re giving this tiny survivor every chance we can. Please keep Rico in your thoughts as this sweet baby continues to fight and heal. 💕

🐰 Rabbitry Update 🐰

We can’t thank everyone enough for all the love, support, and prayers over the last few days. The kindness shown to our family and our rabbitry has meant more than we can put into words. ❤️

We are happy to share that the remaining mother does have stepped up and taken on the kits, and they are doing an amazing job as foster moms. Watching them care for the babies has truly been a blessing.

The dogs involved have been dealt with, and we are now focused on moving forward and making things even safer for our animals.

We also have a NEW BARN! 🎉🐇
If the weather cooperates, we are hoping to transition all of the rabbits, cages, and supplies into the new barn this weekend. Along with the move, we will be implementing even more precautions, barriers, and protection measures to help keep our rabbits safe from predators, dogs, and any future threats.
