🔥 IT’S HAPPENING! 🔥
Carolina Gold BBQ Pellets is officially LIVE on Kickstarter!
I’ve been working toward this moment for a long time — and tonight, I’m pulling the trigger. Carolina Gold is 100% single-species hardwood BBQ pellets, made right here in Kershaw County from premium kiln-dried wood. No fillers. No blending. No corporate nonsense. Just pure Red Oak, White Oak, and Hickory the way serious pitmasters want it.
This is local. This is real. And I need YOUR help to make it happen.

Every pledge — big or small — puts Carolina Gold on the map. Share this with every BBQ lover you know. Let’s show Kershaw County what we’re made of. 🙏

Update on Carolina Gold Pellets 🔥

A bit of news to share — I’ve closed the GoFundMe campaign for Carolina Gold Pellets and made the move to Kickstarter instead. After getting some great advice along the way, this felt like the right fit for a product-based business like ours.

The Kickstarter campaign officially launches this Monday. In the meantime, the pre-launch page is live now — follow it to be notified the second we go live: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/carolinagoldpellets/carolina-gold-pellets-100-pure-single-species-bbq-pellets

For anyone who supported the GoFundMe — thank you, genuinely. This next chapter wouldn’t be happening without that early belief in what we’re building. I’d love to have you along for this next step.

Carolina Gold Pellets is 100% pure, single-species hardwood BBQ pellets — no fillers, no blending, ever. We’re also proud to be the first official vendor for the Que-Munity BBQ Festival on August 15th in Elgin, SC.

More very soon. Thank you for being part of this from the start. 🇺🇸

🔥 Carolina Gold Pellets — Help Us Fire Up Our First Batch

My name is Ben Johnson. Three and a half years ago I packed up my life in Australia and moved to South Carolina for love. Best decision I ever made.

Now I’m making another leap — this time to build something real for our family and our community right here in Kershaw County.

Carolina Gold Pellets produces 100% pure single-species hardwood BBQ pellets and natural hardwood cat litter — made from wood that would otherwise go straight to landfill. No fillers. No blending. No corporate shortcuts. Just real wood, honestly made, right here in Lugoff SC.

The business is ready. The facility is secured. The brand is built. The only thing standing between Carolina Gold and our first batch is the equipment.

If you’ve ever wanted to support a truly local SC product — this is your chance. Every contribution gets us one step closer to firing up that first batch.

Share this with anyone who loves BBQ, supports local business or just believes in people who work hard for what they want. It means everything. 🙏

Update: Momentum is Building

Things are starting to move for Carolina Gold Pellets! Over the past week I’ve had some great conversations with potential customers, started building our social media presence and I’m meeting with my SBDC advisor again this week to finalize funding options.

I’ve also found a local BBQ festival happening August 15th right here in the Lugoff/Camden area — the perfect opportunity for Carolina Gold’s first public appearance. It’s given me a real target to work toward.

None of this happens without people like you believing in what we’re building. Every share, every comment, every bit of support pushes us closer to firing up that first batch of pure, single-species hardwood pellets.

If you haven’t shared the campaign yet — now’s a great time. And if you know anyone in SC who loves BBQ or has a cat, send them our way.

Thank you for being part of this from the beginning. 🔥
