Is your soil mostly clay? Has your soil needs changed due to the flood? Did your dahlias grow with too much pest pressure last year?

At tonight’s free Ferndale library event Dave will explain common soil problems, how healthy soil functions, and why compost is your garden’s very best friend.

This talk explains the advantages of no tilling and no synthetic fertilizers, and what you can do to make your flowers flourish and why.

Also tonight, Shari is sharing tips on choosing the best vases to showcase your blooms. She’ll demonstrate different vase styles and creative arranging ideas using six different types of stems.

Come for information and inspiration, dahlia planting Q&A, gardening connection, and free tubers and seeds to help start your garden beauty!

Looking to create a healthier, more balanced garden naturally? 🌿🐞 The book Attracting Beneficial Bugs to Your Garden by Jessica Walliser is an excellent resource!

We’re excited to share that we’ll have several of these pollinator and beneficial bug-friendly plants available at our sale this Saturday in Bellingham at Bloedel Donovan Park.

All plants are grown with organic fertilizers and soil-building inputs including blood meal, kelp, bone meal, and mycorrhizal fungi. The good stuff.  💚

Testing new dahlia tubers for TSV this morning using Agdia strips. 🌱

After losing nearly 50 percent full-grown dahlia plants to virus in 2024, we promised ourselves we don't need to go through that again.

Yes, it feels harsh tossing tubers that look perfectly healthy. Looks can be deceiving. I can't tell which one has a virus except the test strips. I'd rather lose a tuber now than take out full plants later. Might they still have a virus besides TSV? Yes, and we will pull those out for sure as well.

What feels good about testing? Taking cuttings of what is more certain to grow healthy plants. 💚

We’re selling our remaining tubers this Saturday from 9:00 AM – Noon
8908 Northwood Road, Lynden.

🌱 All varieties have been pre-tested for TSV and should grow beautifully for you!
💲 Tubers are $5–$7 each.
✨ Hybrids and open-centered dahlia seeds will also be available!

It’s dahlia planting season, which means it’s also dahlia planting questions season!
