This past Sunday was my 42nd birthday, and of course we are heading into Thanksgiving. It’s the time of year that reminds me truly how blessed beyond measure I really am. I have so much to be grateful for that I couldn’t imagine starting that list. I want to pass some blessings on so it is time for me to give something back.

I was heartbroken when my paint pen was massacred a couple months back after working so hard to put it together over the past 2 years. But this being the gen1 that they left behind for me?? I am swooning 😍😍😍

Over the past couple weeks while I've been on medical restrictions, I've sadly lost 17 birds. Well over half of my silkie flock, and all of my favorites. First, birds started disappearing in 2s without a trace, no feathers, damage, footprints, nothing. I was convinced they were stolen, even though our cameras didnt detect any motion. Then, my entire paint pen was k!lled by predators that I JUST got balanced and where I wanted it to be to start meeting my breeding goals in that color. So was my black pen, which is where I temporarily moved remaining birds from the other 2 pens where the others first went missing from to keep them "safer" with my toughest rooster. All of the eggs that were being sat on by broody mamas were eaten and destroyed so I dont even have a jumping off point to try and rebuild with the same genetics. Devastated is an understatement. I've lost 17 sweet little lives, 2 years of hard work, and thousands of dollars. That being said, please don't message me asking about chicks, hatching eggs, or Do YoU hAvE aNy HeNs AvAiLaBlE because no, I dont, and the messages I've gotten requesting those things have been serious salt in the wound. Thankfully my husband finally caught and dispatched the culprits. Not one, but two possums, and possums don't even hang out in groups!! But that's just my luck. Not sure exactly where to go from here or what to do with my 4 empty coops so please be patient while I figure it out. Pics of my sweet babydoll Klaus who I will literally miss forever.
