Today we brought a whole new meaning to rain or shine.. or that thunder always happens when it’s raining. Just in time for it to wrap up, go home & take a backyard nap in the 80° sunshine

Today’s market was a dream despite the gloom 🫶🏼🌼🍄

Thank you to every single person who stopped by the booth, supported my little homestead dreams, chatted with me, bought handmade pieces, or grabbed a loaf before they disappeared. It truly means the world to me to connect with people when it comes to my passion. I adore hearing your stories, sharing mine, meeting new people & chatting with everyone. The five hours of sleep in the two days leading up to the market never matters when I get to share what I love.

The inclusion loaves completely sold out, cinnamon rolls barely hung on by a thread, cookies disappeared fast, the mug koozies & coasters were a hit.

Market season kicks off next weekend!!!

Come say hi & hang out with me Saturday May 16th in downtown Clawson from 10AM-2PM 🌾 I’ll be set up at the southwest corner of 14 & Main

Goldenrod Acres will have the usual sourdough menu treats - bread, cinnamon rolls, scones, cookies, English muffins. Homemade goodies - candles, chapstick, tallow, beeswax wraps, fire starters, soaps, extracts.
I’ve added in some new crocheted items this year - cup koozies, coasters, pot holders, towel holders, dish cloths.

Clawson has changed the style of the markets this year - it’ll be more walkable & spaced out on the four corners of downtown. We’ll have live music, kid zones, food & local vendors - public restrooms available while you sip, snack & shop!

Can’t wait to see everyone there!!

BEE DAY 🐝 come with me to install two new packages!

Unfortunately neither of my hives made it through winter. I’ve been told by many o’beekeepers to expect that. & while I was warned, knowing it’s all trial & error, it still kind of sucked as a first year keeper. With that - comes more learning opportunities!

I attempted to attract a swarm early this spring which also was not successful. That led me to buying what’s called a package of bees. They’re about three pounds - consisting of a caged queen & about 15,000 worker bees. The queen is not from that hive, which is why she’s separated in the cage until the other bees accept her.

I go to a bee keeping club every month, the combined knowledge of everyone who attends is hundreds of years. The most experienced people in there tell me “The more I learn about bees, I realize I know nothing about bees.”

Here’s to year two & my never ending journey of discovering these magnificent buzzing creatures
