The hardest part of this life is that it’s not all sunshine and rainbows like I wish it was. It’s been a season for us 😣 A lot of chaos with real heartbreak mixed in.
Poor Miss Mollie, one of our veteran Mamas, has had a rough go this time around 😔
She was one of our biggest pregnant girlies and we were expecting multiple babies from her.
Friday morning around 9:30AM she birthed just one little boy, which was a bit surprising, but they both looked good!
Later in the day, he was seemingly a little weak but nothing extreme that we needed to intervene just yet.
Saturday morning we went in to check on them again and he took a sharp turn. He was lethargic, whiney, weak, and not latching.
We checked his temp and it was VERY low. Mollie’s utters were also extremely full and she was sensitive to the touch, like they were starting to hurt her. 😔 never a good sign with a new baby.
We quickly took her little boy inside, got him heated up, milked her (you could tell she felt soooooo much better afterwards) and started our intervention.
We were able to warm him, feed him, get his blood sugar up, and get him a little more comfortable. But it was too late.
His breathing remained labored and his little body was weak. We snuggled him as he passed and hugged him tight.
Our sweet girl is mourning her baby and we’re shifting gears as we introduce our new milking equipment to get her comfy & give her baby a sweet purpose 🤍
