Speckled eggs, mums, and all things fall are my absolute favorite. 🤎🍁 The girls clearly understood the assignment.

I’m ready for crisp mornings, open windows, mums everywhere, and evening egg collection looking like this every day! 🐓🥚🧡

Fun farm day today! 🥚🐓💚

Got my first TWO Silverudd eggs today, and we had a little chickie mug-shot session in the olive pen. 😂📸

Finding new eggies might just be my favorite kind of farm day. There’s not much more exciting about checking a nest box and finding a color you’ve been waiting months to see! 💚🥚

And those first Silverudd eggs did not disappoint. 😍

Apparently I haven’t opened the farm page or posted since June 😬 I’d apologize and promise to do better, but we all know that would be a lie. I’m terrible at this whole social media thing 😂

But while I’ve been neglecting Facebook, this year’s pullets have finally started laying! 🥚 We’re getting an awesome range of greens, lots of speckles, and quite a few pretty pinks. 😍

Next up will be our Silverudd’s Blues from Fairy Ridge Farm. They’re 17 weeks old today and have started hanging out in the nest boxes, but no eggs yet. 👀

I can’t wait to see what those girls add to the basket! 💚

This weeks Farm happenings 🌸

Sometimes I really do put all my eggs in one basket… 190 of them this time. Time got away from me and I wasn’t very good about sending eggs with the Husband this week, so this batch is getting boiled and fed back to the chickens. Circle of life farm edition 🥚🐓

The 2026 garden is finally planted. Now I’m just waiting on that first red mater. And cucumbers. And corn. Who am I kidding, I’m ready for it all! Garden meals ever’night🎉🍅🌽🥒

The mock orange is blooming and the whole front yard smells like honeysuckle . I swear it’s the best smelling thing I’ve ever planted. If it bloomed longer I’d have it planted everywhere and I’d never go inside 🤍

Picked up another Magnalite roaster from my junk girl for the collection. I only need a 2 quart and 3 quart saucepan to have a complete collection X’s TWO so both the boys can stop arguing over who gets what when I die 😆 If the girls decide they’re gonna like old cookware too, they need to decide soon so I can start on two more sets. If not, I guess they can all just fight over it when I’m dead. 🥴

It’s finally time for a test hatch out of the breeder pens 🙌🐣

First run using our new lines of
Black Copper Marans
Welsummers, and
Ameraucanas

* plus a dozen Welsummers from Cedar Hills Farmstead

I’ve had the pens separated long enough for a test run and I’m real curious to see how these BCMs lay next generation! I’m pushing for darker eggs and some of that heavy bloom we’ve been getting on a few of them 🤎

This is our last hatch before summer vacation ( i promised Em's Farm Sitting no babies in the brooder while she’s in charge😅) so…..if you’re needing chicks, now’s the time before I …SHUT… IT …DOWN …( until July 🤪)

At this point I don’t even know if this makes me boujie or redneck… probably both with a splash of “we’ve lost control of the farm” 😅
But here we are… six hour road trip, deluxe crate accommodations, personal chauffeur, and not a single complaint out of him.
He’s been the bestest boy the whole ride.
No drama. No crowing concert. Just back there chillin like a villain .
Meanwhile I’ve got snacks, drinks, and still not as chill as the rooster in the backseat.

Exciting news over here 🐣

The breeder pens have been separated long enough that we’re officially collecting eggs for a test hatch😅

The Marans have kicked it into high gear!I’m hoping the next generation goes even darker, but I’m not mad about that bloom one bit… 👏

Also… while we were out messing around in the orchard, we found a robin’s nest. And when I say I want my Ameraucanas to lay BLUE…

Not this 5 shades bluer than white I’ve been getting.

And apparently the Welsummers must know I’m about ready to collect their rent… because they haven’t laid an egg in DAYS 🙄

Now we wait and see what this test hatch gives us 🤞

I’m terrible at posting lately… things have actually been kinda slow around here. Or at least they feel slow before everything hits at once.

The orchard went from “oh pretty flowers” to “well… guess we’re doing fruit now” real quick. We’ve got tiny apples, peaches, plums, pears, blueberries, blackberries … all just out there doing their thing. 🍑🍏🫐
The CHERRIES are still acting like they’re above us… maybe one day they’ll participate 🙄😅

The roses are blooming early and fixing to absolutely explode. The Eclipse hydrangeas are still my favorite from last year. I’m really glad they’re easier to find around here now so I don’t have to order them, but I’m SO gonna try to propagate them this year and see what happens.

The garden starts are about to climb off the rack and plant themselves. Two more weekends and they’re going in the ground, no discussion.

And the pool finally warmed up 🙌 so I’ve been floating around like a hippo, getting a tan and not getting much else done … just enjoying this little window before everything starts demanding my full attention 😅

We’ve officially hit that time of year where I need a housekeeper, because I’m either in the pool, in the garden, or in the kitchen… and ain’t nobody got time for 🧹 🥴

Anybody else in that weird in-between where it feels slow… but you know it’s about to get real busy real fast?
