Happy Fall....such a beautiful season!

Anyone else out there appreciate not having to turn on the heat or the air conditioning? Just coast through. My favorite.

"Is the season winding down for you guys?"

In some ways 'yes' and many ways 'no'!

Yes- because there are rows that were are cleaning up and don't harvest from anymore. The flow of farming is a lot different with the shorting of day light hours.

No- we flower on until the first frost comes! The Farmer's market still goes on into October. The retail spots are filled with fresh bouquets throughout the week. Plus, in many ways we are working extra hard and the list is extra long in the fall so that we can prepare beds for spring, sanitize crates for our winter tulip growing, tag the dahlias, dig the dahlias, store the dahlias for winter....it is fun and a bit of a whirlwind.

Never mind the long list - let's just enjoy the rest of THIS season with fresh flowers on the table in your favorite vase!

*Eucalyptus bunches will be at the market this Saturday! The fragrance of FRESH from the farm Eucalyptus is unmatched.

The seasonality of the flowers is one of the many reasons why I love to grow flowers. There are seasons within the summer growing season that allow for different varities of flowers to grow. Every few weeks there is a new kind of flower to use in the bouquet recipes. This time of year is one of the best- with dahlias, lisianthus, sunflowers and zinnias really blooming at their peak moments!
