Everyone is doing great since finding them earlier today, we weren't really planning anymore babies this year but nature had other plans I guess

This opens the question now: do we start hatching out our own? A new adventure may be on the horizon ✨️

In other news one of our male ducks turned out to be female.....I've never owned a Rouen duck before, mind you these were the 2 little dudes found half alive in a cold stock tank, we didn't care about gender, we cared about a fighting chance for them. I swear, hand to God that duck look exactly like male version of a rouen last week when I closely looked at her, but no more bright green head, no more tail curl.......we are calling it a day now, have a pleasant night y'all 😴 😊

With the weather being so hot and thunderstorms happening almost every Wednesday evening, I just thought the girls were on strike until it cooled to their liking, even cleaning their coop every week recently I was very suspicious of no butt nuggets anywhere.......I was right to be suspicious.

This morning during chores the dogs alerted to a surprise finding in the back by some old yard equipment, we had thought they found the skunk we've been smelling the last three days and prepared for a smelly battle of a lifetime, WRONG!

We walked into a situation we had scenarioed out many times, many different ways, many different contingency plans made....but not for this exact scenario.......so we now have 15 new day old chicks hatched by one of our very own California White hens, from our gorgeous Sapphire Gem rooster (rocky)

Its been a week y'all, I think we earned that Sunday drink after all oooof!

Hey my local lovelies, this is your reminder to start preparing for the heat wave coming!

Make sure your waters and pools are filled, there is shade for them to relax in, and never forget everyone loves a popsicle when its hot including chickens!

Chicken friendly popsicles
You'll need:
Any corn, scratch, or chicken approved veggies/fruits
A fun ice tray (normal works just fine as well)
Chicken safe fruit juice or water
Steps:
1. Fill ice tray with water or juice
2. Add veggies/fruits/grains
3. Freeze over night 🌙 😴
4. Enjoy watching your girls have fun with their new treat 😁
(Fun little twist to try: you can also make a smoothie blend and freeze it the same way, mine love it!)

May our ACs and fans be strong during these boiling of times 🥵🥵

Man I tell you, I think mother nature has it out for us!
Was great to see everyone at the farmers market last night even if it was just for 20 minutes until the weather decided we were wilting plants and needed to be drenched, oh well there is always next week!
We hope y'all have a safe and fun 4th of July!!!

The antics my poor people have to deal with 😅
Huge appreciation to everyone who is helping on these projects ✨️
Currently there is a green house in the living room for start seedlings 🌱, auntie's root cellar is about to be filled 👌, the garden bed is getting cleaned out this week for hopefully some strawberries 🍓 and raspberries, no idea what we'll put in the rest only time will tell 🤪
As we always say around here, there's always something going on and there's no rest for the wicked, big things planned and we can't wait, stay tuned!

When I say I am so glad George found his way into our lives, I MEAN IT! We just absolutely love him and all his character ❤️

George don't mess around with these magpies, crows, and sparrows being near his ladies or coop. Although I think he is convinced he is a dog now as the farm dogs have taught him how to play tug of war with them, never a dull moment here on the misfits farm, King George forever✨️❤️
