Coop Update!!!

It is all closed in, roof done, ventilation added, fenced off area coming along! Then we'll work on the gates/doors/roosts/nesting boxes/brooder.

So grateful for my wonderful husband, hes been working on this project non-stop for the last few weeks. Started with re-doing the roof on our feed/tack room & run-ins shed, to now our coop.

🥰 cant wait to show yall the finished product!!

Our ladies love when it's time for the horses to eat - Holmes is a messy eater 😅 he drops a bit of food during feedings and the chickens go crazy for his "left overs" .

Trixie always tries to steal Holme's food...shes a curvy girl and gets 1/8 of his portion 🤣 she says it's not fair and he should share the wealth.

I'm always amazed how our girls navigate their gigantic siblings out in the field. 😊 no one had been stepped on to date! (Knocks on wood).

The ladies and their token lad are getting a bigger house!!!!

Bless my husband for supporting my chicken habit and upgrading our coop 🥰.

Their new home will go beside our horse's run-in shed.

Their new home will give them more room, have better ventilation, wider roosts, easier access for us to clean, a covered outdoor area for when it rains, and a larger fenced in area just for them!

They will still be able to utilize the horses pasture, but it'll allow us a dedicated area for them when they begin to wander too far from home or we're out of town.

Sometimes they need to go in "time out" when they leave our property 😅

Our chickens are Pasture-Raised, meaning they have more space to freely roam than even "Free-Range Chickens".

While we feed some Seed/Grain (Carolina Pride Whole Grain 17% Layer) our chickens predominantly are eating insects & vegetation in our yard and horses' pasture.
