We had the last litter of 2026 born this morning. She had 6 piglets, but unfortunately one i wasn't present for didnt make it out of the sac.
She has 2 boarlings and 3 gilts.

So far in 2026 we have had:
Sueeee with 3 gilts, 3 boarlings + 2 deceased
Maggie with 4 gilts 3 boarlings + 2 deceased
Nonamed sow with 4 gilts
Thelma with 2 boarlings 3 gilts + 1 deceased
Every piglets was born alive. I dont think that any we lost was a sows fault.

We will get these litters in akkps soon!

Did you know next year our kids will each have lambs available to purchase? They show hair sheep in the local fair. This year they are breeding their 7 ewes. They will select some to keep for showing, but they will also offer lambs too.

Standard rex rabbits make a great smaller meat rabbit. They are much bigger then a mini breed but only get to 10.5 pounds. Our kids show them in 4H and we raise them for meat. If anyone is interested in one in august reach out. The kids will show a few of these and have 1 each 9 month old bucks to show too. We either butcher or offer them so let us know.
They are out of pedigree show genetic rabbits, but I do not plan to pedigree any of them.

Surprise! We have another litter. Clearly our boars Gus got in on this one for sure 😉🤣. All 4 are gilts and doing well. This is a Maggie's daughter and first time gilt.
Im loving the rainbow colored litter 😍
Just one more sow to farrow for 2026.

Did I mention the first litter born is not related to any of the litters born in the spring of 2025? We have boarlings that look absolutely beautiful if anyone is needing a boar.

We chose to keep several piglets from our fall 2025 litters to raise for pork. Now that they are on green pasture and get 1.5-2ibs a pig per day of 16% protein pellets they have grown much better.

This video just shows you pigs of different ages, sizes, and genetics growing together. Hopefully we get about 3 of them processed soon. We like to have brats, hams, sausage, and bacon from the locker.

Maggie waited, because this was the biggest litter of big piglets she has ever had!! Maggie had 9 healthy large, long legged piglets. Honestly the runts arent runts. 🤷‍♀️ This Jenny sow is worth her weight in gold as always. Her biggest litter is 9 and smallest is 4 piglets. She is the true homestead perfect sow and we have built our herd around the expectations that all sows will produce and mother like her.

Incase you wonder if kunekune boars are dangerous... Nope they are so good with piglets and children (supervised and outside breeding time) 🤣🤣
