I didn’t start making tallow balm because it was trendy.

I made it because I was desperate.

Our second little boy struggled with painful eczema and incredibly dry skin.

We tried the lotions.
We tried the prescriptions.
We tried everything we knew to try.

But nothing seemed to give his skin a break.

Then I discovered tallow.

And for our family, something changed.

The flare-ups became less frequent.
The pain eased.
And slowly, we felt like we had our happy little boy back.

That experience is the reason I started making tallow balm.

What began as something I made for my own family
became something I wanted to share with yours.

Every jar is still made here on our Kansas farm,
with the same care I had when I made the very first one.

Real life on the farm.

Spend a rainy morning doctoring cattle with us.

This dart gun is game changer for giving medicine when you don’t have working facilities handy. Sure beats holding them in with a panel while my husband gives them a shot. Big thanks to a friend for letting us borrow it.

POV: you’re checking on a fresh batch of tallow 👀

The tallow-making process isn’t widely talked about.

After rendering, the tallow forms a beautiful “cake” that still needs to be cleaned before it becomes the creamy, whipped tallow balm you know and love.

A little messy. A little satisfying. And somehow I never get tired of seeing what comes out of a batch of suet. 🤎

🎃 Pumpkin Coffee Cake 🎃

There is just something about the crisp, cool air and beautiful neutral colors this time of year that make you want to spend hours in the kitchen.

Our family loved this recipe! I doubled it (ofc) and ended up giving one away to a neighbor. This would also be a great recipe for the freezer.
