We love our deer out here at the Farm 🦌 Every day we see between 1-12….it depends on who’s out and about. This one was standing only about 10 feet from our free ranging ducks and they cohabitate just fine. Neither fear the other and they just eat and go about their biz. Farm life is never dull

Meet the animals!!

Today, Minka! Minka is our 25 year old, 13h, Paso Fino Mare! She is a beauty! Minka belongs to my Grandma and she is so well loved. Grandma is out here to see her, ride her and love on her every chance she gets and Minka is adorable when she sees Grandma coming or hears her voice. She gets excited and knows she’s about to be spoiled a lot. She loves rooting around near Grandmas pockets because she knows they are full of her favorite treats. We adopted Minka the same day we did Millie from the Wyandot County Equine Rescue. Our girls are two peas in a pod and do everything side by side! Mink is a high anxiety horse that often times takes a while to warm up but is one of the most loving horses you’ll ever meet! She can be fun to catch in the pasture sometimes but where Millie goes she’s sure to follow. She’s also gaited and rides like a dream! With a good treat or two, especially some fresh apples, you’ve got a bestie for life☺️love this amazing girl!

Meet the animals!!

Today, Millennium! Millie is our beautiful 14h, 20 year old, slightly flea-bitten gray, Arabian Mare! We adopted our girl from Wyandot County Equine Rescue 8 months ago today! When Millie was brought to the equine center they found Sarcoids on her side, which are a form of tumor. The tumors were removed and left a happy, healthy girl with just a little scar! What a perfect fit for our Abbs☺️ We believe Millie was involved in some form of shows in her past life and she can preform a variety of tricks! Among them are counting, bowing, rearing and countless others under saddle! An 18 year long dream was fulfilled the day this girl came into our lives and we are so incredibly grateful!

Meet the animals!!

Today, our hens! Here at Spurlock farm we’re blessed with 4 beautiful hens! We have 2 Rhode Island Reds and 2 Buckeyes! Our girls are very hearty and seem to love the cold! During winter time we’d often see them roosting outside of the coop even on nights where those temps dropped well below freezing! Our buckeyes are our most social girls and never mind some good belly rubs! All 4 of these guys lay delicious eggs and didn’t ever stop producing through this winter season. We are so very lucky to have chickens like these!❤️

Meet the animals!!

Today, our roosters Feather-Foot (palpatine) and Bantam (Count dooku)! These two guys are what we believe to be Mille Fleur d’Uccle (feather-foot) And Barred Plymouth Rock (Dooku) Bantams! Boy are they loud mouths! Feather-foot is by far our lead chicken and to play favorites, our prettiest! He’s also our only one to have feathered feet! Our other Bantam is our most aggressive chicken of the bunch and a major protector of the nests! We have to watch out for him anytime we reach in to fill feed or water and especially to collect eggs! All times of the day and night very loud rooster calls can be heard from anywhere out here on the farm!
