In honor of National Burger Day, we had to share the smashburger crafted by that earned 2nd place at the 🔥🍔
Here’s exactly how we made it:
Ingredients:
• 80/20 or 75/25 ground beef by
• Texas Jalapeño Salt
• Cream cheese from
• Thinly sliced jalapeños
• American cheese from
• 2 parts of our Spicy Bacon Jam
• 1 part seedless raspberry jam
•
Equipment:
• kettle + griddle insert
• briquettes, lump, and Flex
•
•
•
1. Set up the kettle as a smoker by lining coals on one side, lighting one end, and placing JD Flex fuel spread apart on top. Score and season the cream cheese, then smoke at 200°F.
2. Form the beef into 3.5 oz balls and place on the smoker for 30 minutes. While those smoke, fire up lump charcoal for the griddle.
3. Remove the cream cheese and beef. Smash the patties onto the cooktop, season, and top with thinly sliced jalapeños. After about 60 seconds, scrape and flip each patty, then top with American cheese and let melt.
4. Mix together 2 parts of our Spicy Bacon Jam with 1 part seedless raspberry jam for the sauce.
5. Build the burger on a steamed potato roll with smoked cream cheese on the bottom, jalapeño smash patties in the middle, and a generous layer of jam sauce on top.
Enjoy 🍔🔥
