Dael started his journey out west today by heading east to Harmony, NC to see family. He started at the Kickin Kountry Studios where Shannon Steele saw him off. Dael and Mike got to meet Jim Segars, a WW ll Veteran who will turn 101 Years Young tomorrow. Jim was also the Mayor of Marion back in the 1970s and 80s.

🤦‍♂️ What The Hell, Dael?!

For the THIRD time this year, I've tried to plan the Murphy to Manteo ride...

And for the THIRD time, something came up and it got pushed aside.

So here I am... planning it ONE MORE TIME.

Then my brain did what it always does...

"Wait a minute... what if I did this completely backwards?" 🤣

Instead of riding from Murphy to Manteo, what if I started at the other end?

🏍️ Day 1: Ride to the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial and spend the day exploring Wilmington.

🏍️ Day 2: Ride up the coast to Manteo, explore the Outer Banks, and visit Kitty Hawk.

🏍️ Day 3: Ride the entire length of US Highway 64 from Manteo all the way back to Murphy. One highway. One state. Coast to mountains.

Then...

Here's where the "What The Hell, Dael?!" really kicks in...

Instead of ending the trip...

Instead of heading back to my normal routine...

What if I just kept riding?

Turn west...

And point the front wheel toward Sturgis.

Because if I'm already in Murphy...

Why stop there?

😂😂😂

This is exactly how my mind works. I start planning one ride, and before I know it, it's turned into a cross-country adventure.

So now I need your help.

🏍️🤣 LEATHER... OR MARSHMALLOW? 🤣🏍️

After Dael's recent "unexpected meeting with the pavement," he's been doing some serious thinking about riding gear.

He's narrowed it down to two options...

🥷 Option A: The full leather riding suit.
Looks tough. Offers great protection. Makes him feel likehe belongs on a racetrack.

OR...

☁️ Option B: The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man suit! 😂

Sure, he'd look like he rolled out of a giant inflatable bounce house, but if he ever hit the ground again, maybe he'd just bounce his way back onto the bike! ROFLOL!

In all seriousness, every ride teaches us something. Dael's reminded him that ATGATT (All The Gear, All The Time) isn't just for long trips or fast rides. Sometimes it only takes a slow-speed mishap to change the way you think about safety.

⚠️ Sometimes it's not the motorcycle that lets you down... it's the gear you add to it.

As I was leaving the Kickin Kountry 101 offices and heading toward Morganton on the V-Strom, my rear tire suddenly locked up. I managed to coast into the parking lot at Mariner Finance, but at less than 5 mph the wheel locked completely... and down I went, thankfully in the entrance and out of the road.

The good news? I was barely moving, so I walked away with nothing more than a bruised, road-rashed right knee, a broken right foot peg, and a bruised ego. Looking back, I'll take that trade any day.

Once we picked the bike up, something didn't make sense... the rear tire rolled freely. After looking everything over, I found what I believe most likely caused it. It appears the clip that holds one of my soft pannier bag straps may have been broken by my boot while riding, allowing the strap to fall into the rear wheel and lock it up.

💡 Lesson learned:
Soft pannier straps are no longer on my adventure bikes. From now on, it's hard, bolt-on cases only. Sometimes the best lessons are the ones that leave you with a story instead of a hospital bill.

Thank you to the person who stopped and helped me get the bike back on two wheels. Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

Sometimes the best motorcycle stories aren't found at the destination... they're discovered over a cup of coffee.

While filming for 2 Wheel Destinations™ in Marion, NC, Dael and Mike met Ladussa, a rider who had just rolled past an incredible milestone—10,000 miles on her Indian Motorcycle Chief Dark Horse in less than a year! 🔥

But that's only the beginning.

Ladussa and her husband are on a unique motorcycle adventure. Instead of riding side-by-side, they're taking separate routes across the country, each carving their own path and collecting their own stories before reuniting in Michigan. 🇺🇸🏍️

As her route brought her through Marion, she made a stop at Ingenious Coffee Roasters on Main Street for a much-needed cup of coffee after countless miles on the road. What started as a casual conversation quickly turned into something much bigger.

Dael grabbed the camera.

Mike asked a few questions.

And suddenly, a simple coffee stop became an unforgettable interview filled with stories of the open road, motorcycle life, adventure, determination, and the freedom that only riders truly understand.

This is exactly why we do what we do.

Not just to showcase destinations... but to share the stories of the people who make the journey worth taking.

⏳🥇 WE WENT BACK IN TIME AT THE 22ND ANNUAL NC GOLD FESTIVAL! 🥇⏳

What if you could step back into the days when North Carolina was at the center of America's first gold rush?

That's exactly what happened when Dael and Mike of 2 Wheel Destinations came face-to-face with Christopher Bechtler... or at least David Gillespie's incredible portrayal of the legendary goldsmith, gunsmith, and mint founder!

Before there was a Federal Mint, there was Bechtler's Mint right here in North Carolina. Prospectors would bring their gold to Christopher Bechtler, who would carefully weigh and assay it before turning it into coins trusted throughout the region. 💰⛏️

But gold wasn't his only talent.

Bechtler was also an innovative gunsmith, crafting unique brass-barreled flintlock and percussion rifles and pistols that helped make his name known far beyond the gold fields. 🔥🔫
