Christmas Day here at Novel Breads Co.! New books just arrived including esteemed, local author Cara Reinard’s () psychological thriller, The Wife at the Window. We have lots of sourdough creations such as Cinnamon Babka, Toasted Blonde, Sun Shinin’ Biscuits and even Chocolate Addiction Cookies. Fresh eggs from our happy chickens complete the special features. Plus, it’s cool in here. I’ll see you soon!

We’re here at Liberty Street Antiques with our delicious sourdough creations, enjoy the beautiful and capacious setting of this lovely antique store/mercantile. Stop in and shop with all of us. We’ll be setup until 2pm today. 😊

Tomorrow’s the day! We’re heading up to Liberty Street Antiques to set up and sell our yummy creations, including some of these Cinnamon Babka. Stop in between 10am and 2pm to reconnect and find some delicious bread while shopping at this beautiful store. See you tomorrow!

I haven’t posted on books for a bit, but I’m always reading! Here are two of the latest books I’ve really enjoyed. Theo of Golden is THE novel that everyone has been telling me about; it was really the premise that immediately caught my attention. Any novel that promotes kindness and genuinely seeing people always captures my eye. Plus, author, Allen Levi, has a unique and interesting way of shining a spotlight on the beautiful things in our daily lives. If you want a story that feels good to read and restores your faith in humanity and respect for art, this is the novel for you. Incidentally, I will have copies of the book in the store within the next week. Mendell Station by J.B. Hwang is one of those quiet stories with a perspective I’ve never considered and am delighted to discover. Named after a real post office in California, this novel is set during the start of COVID. The main character works as a teacher at a religious school when her childhood friend unexpectedly dies. This trauma sets her on a tail spin. She quits her job and becomes a postal worker. What makes this story special is that the author (who had worked as a postal worker in California during Covid) takes the reader into the world of postal work/delivery service…their training, the dangers of the job and the overwhelming workload during Covid when everyone was ordering online. It really made me consider things that had never entered my consciousness before and made me appreciate the job our postal workers do each day. Ultimately in the story, the job helps the character deal with her grief. Spoiler alert, this story does not end all wrapped up with a bow but more like an ongoing story like life. The weather was kinder to us on Saturday than we anticipated, so it was a great turnout at the 11th Annual Mars BrewFest. This event serves as the town fundraiser for the Mars’ New Year festivities, so it is important to have a wonderful experience and great turnout. We were happy to be able to setup for the event and to visit with so many of you. Now that the BrewFest is over, we are moving on to new adventures this week. We are finally heading back up to see our lovely customers in Franklin on Thursday. Since our friends, Tammy and David Bible, sold the Olive Vault last year, we haven’t had a chance to get up that way or connect with the new owners. Just recently, though, I was contacted by Barbara, the owner of Liberty Street Antiques, who is working on developing a mercantile within her antique store. She invited us to be a popup vendor, so we are heading up to Liberty Street Antiques this Thursday, June 11, 9:30-2pm ish. Come on up to the beautiful town of Franklin on Thursday, spend a lovely summer day with us and check out all that Liberty Street Antiques has to offer.

In store updates! We are completely sold out of English Muffins at the Novel Breads’ store this week. However, if you have a deep hankering for them, there will be some at the Beaver Farmers Market tomorrow. If you don’t want to trek over to the market, then there are plenty of other delicious sourdough options like Caribbean Banana, Ricotta Baguette and Classic Italian at the store and market. Also, please note that we will be closing the store at 1pm on Saturday as the roads will be closed for the BrewFest. We will be back for the BrewFest with these cinnamon buns (that will be iced with mascarpone), Chocolate Addiction Cookies and Sourdough Pretzel Bites with tangy beer mustard. We plan to be on the street unless the weather is treacherous and then you can find us in the store. See you tomorrow at our various occasions.
