Baby chicks are honestly little chaos nuggets, here are some fun facts you’ll love 🐣
🐥 They imprint FAST
• Chicks “imprint” within the first couple days of life, basically, they decide who/what is mom.
• If you’re raising them, congrats… you might be mom now.
🥚 They can “talk” before they hatch
• Chicks start peeping inside the egg and even communicate with the hen and other chicks before hatching.
⚡ They grow ridiculously fast
• They can double in size in just a week with proper care.
• Feels like you blink and suddenly they’re teenagers with attitudes.
🧠 Smarter than people think
• Chicks can recognize faces (yes, yours 👀).
• They can also learn routines and come running when they know food is involved.
🌡️ They can’t regulate body temp yet
• That’s why heat lamps are so important—they rely on external warmth just like little dinosaurs (because… they basically are).
🪶 Fluff now, feathers later
• That cute fluff? It’s not real feathers yet.
• They’ll start getting actual feathers in a couple weeks and look awkward as hell for a bit 😂
🐔 They start pecking immediately
• Pecking is instinctual, they’ll peck at food, shiny things, your fingers… everything.
• It’s how they explore the world.
🎤 They all have different personalities
• Some are bold and sassy, some are shy, some are absolute menaces.
• You’ll definitely start recognizing “who’s who” quickly.
🥚 Not all chicks = egg layers (yet!)
• Depending on breed, they won’t start laying eggs until around 4–6 months old.
• So your girls are in their “cute freeloading phase” right now 😅
