Is it too early to plant tomatoes, basil and peppers? Yes. But damn these puppies are looking good right now. Come out and grab some along with a bunch of more seasonally appropriate veggies, herbs and native perennials this Saturday 4/18 9-2 and Sunday 4/19 11-2.

Exciting news! Seeds from the Appalachian Growers Seed Collective are now available at The Farm Connection in Marshall. These seeds are from local farms in WNC including my own (Rabbit Den Farm). We are a group of farmers committed to selecting and growing regionally adapted varieties that have proven to excel on our own farms. This is a great way to support local farms while also getting some cool new varieties to try out in your own garden.

If you find yourself in Asheville we also have a seed rack at the West Village Market. You can also find additional varieties in our online store 👇

We just had a fun day packing seeds for the Appalachian Growers Seed Collective. I'm excited to be offering 6 different seeds through the collective this year. You can order them online (link in the comments) and starting tomorrow they'll be available at The Farm Connection in Marshall... and soon to be available at a couple stores in Asheville. This year we are offering over 30 varieties of locally grown, regionally adapted seed. Check em out and help us grow the local seed movement.

Exciting news! The Appalachian Seed Growers Collective just opened up sales for our 2026 seed offerings. This year I've got six varieties for sale through our collective including: Blue Ridge Butternut Squash, Whidby White Okra, LD Reel Cayenne Pepper, Grace Lahman Pink Tomato (a new favorite for me!), Grapevine Greasy Beans, and Conch Southern Pea.

You can order at: https://www.utopianseed.org/store

The Appalachian Growers Seed Collective is a group of farmers who have come together under the umbrella of The Utopian Seed Project to grow, save, and sell regionally adapted seeds. This is our third year selling, and we have grown (thanks to your support) from 7 to 21 to 33 varieties this year! All the seeds we offer are chosen by collective members. All seeds are recently germination tested at a North Carolina state-run facility.

50% of all seed sales go back to the farmer, and 50% goes towards the work of the seed collective. This includes shared seed cleaning equipment, gathering and administration, seed packets, envelopes etc.!

Locally grown seed is the missing link in our local food supply. Support local farmers and support a more resilient local food system.
