2 days old compared to 9 days old, these guys grow so quickly. Remember, Apple cider vinegar in their water is one of the best preventatives to coccidiosis in my experience, and key to early gut health in your babies.

One of the other best preventatives is to have a small feeder on hand to start using around day 2 or 3. I drill small holes in old Tupperware that the chicks can fit their head through, but also a size they can’t easily fit their whole body through. Some may get inside the feeder at first but they quickly outgrow being able to do that. Once your babies are eating out of a feeder that they can’t easily p**p inside, their ingestion of p**p goes WAY down and this majorly helps prevent coccidiosis.

Notes:

-ALWAYS check waterer for poo and clean it out when necessary.
-When starting to use feeder with babies, some may get stuck in the holes in your feeder on occasion. Remove feeder and wait 24 hours and try again, they should be bigger and less likely to try to get inside the feeder and get stuck.
