Black raspberries!

When we moved to our acreage we were blessed to find a bunch of black raspberries hiding in our grove! 3 years ago we transplanted about 30-40 into 3 rows and managed to get a little over a third to survive. But this year they are starting to spread by sending out runners and are making up for a bad strawberry crop this year. We’ve been blessed with black raspberries we pick them every 2-3 days to help promote more berries and to get them before they are overripe.

One of our goals is to keep adding and growing our fruit production and to hopefully be able to eventually offer more fruit throughout the season!

Would love to hear your favorite ways to use black raspberries!? We do have jelly and smoothies on the list!

Sweet potatoes!! The dozen we got in before the storms this past week I think our going to survive! And we are working on getting the last dozen or so in before more rain tonight. Ideally I would have them planted right after the first of June but the weather hasn’t been our friend this Spring. The soil is also wetter than I’d like to plant in but it’s at the point we just got to get them in the ground.

Excited to announce we will be at the Olin Farmers Market tomorrow, Friday June 12th 4:30-6:30! Praying the remaining of the storms today are mild and we are able to bring radishes, mixed greens, green onions, garlic scapes and lamb tallow lotion! Along with maybe some of the first fresh herbs of the season!

We are officially done with lambing until late summer/fall! The last of our grass fed ewes lambed. We have 6 ewes in our grass fed herd compared to almost 100 in our grain fed! We ended up with 11 grass fed lambs 5 sets of twins and 1 singleton. It ended up being a pretty good lambing. Hopefully come spring we will have grass fed lambs available again!
