Thrilling day at Lone Star Acres. Last doeling embarked on a new journey this morning (still 2 bucklings left). Then on to revitalizing spring cleaning in the goat pens. Then Lilly’s first solo drive on the tractor so we could spread it all over a newly seeded field.

There are hard and troubled days on a farm, but you have to have your eyes closed not to find the blessings in even the hardest days. Yesterday was one of those here.
Sadie is our most beloved goat. She started here three years ago as a bottle baby on the back porch. Yesterday she went into labor and ended up breached with the head out and needing an emergency c-section. The baby did not make it, but we focus on the blessings.
Sadie is recovering and doing well after what the vet said was the hardest c-section they had ever seen. Another blessing is seeing how strong and brave your young daughter is. Our daughter (9) Lilly was sitting with her as she went into labor and was not only there and strong, she was hands on taking action. Gloved up trying to reposition the baby, holding the baby's head all the way to the vet, being there in the room for surgery observing and learning, watching the resuscitations efforts on the baby. Sitting with Sadie's head in her lap all the way home. So many blessings!
