Two Feet Farm

Two Feet Farm We are a family of 11 just beginning our homesteading journey! We look forward to offering various products as our farm grows!

We currently raise Mini Lop rabbits and regularly have babies for sale.

Our carrots in our little raised bed are doing so good! The spinach in the middle didn't do much, so we pulled the two plants that grew and have planted beets. We'll see how they do. πŸ˜‰

They sure let you know when they need something! πŸ˜‚

Normally, you barely hear them unless you're in there by the brooder, but last night, you could hear them calling loudly when we stepped out of the van! I figured they were out of food or water so went to check on them. Sure enough, they needed water and were making sure everyone knew. πŸ˜‚

Two weeks old! The ducklings have more than doubled in size and are just about ready for a bigger brooder! That'll be on our list for this week. πŸ˜‰

Some of them got to enjoy some grass today and it was fun to watch them attack the dandelion heads. πŸ˜‚

The ducklings are a week old today and already getting so big!

We moved the brooder from inside our house to our garage today and are happy to have the mess and smells outside now. πŸ˜‰ They really are messy little buggers! πŸ˜‚

We made a new "more spillproof" waterer for them as well. I saw this idea when our first batch of ducklings were a little older and it worked amazingly well! They can still make a bit of a mess with their water, but they can't spill it and they can't splash out nearly as much! So my son and I are excited to get this one made and hopefully help keep them at least a bit drier and cleaner. πŸ˜‰

Oh and just to brag on our kids a little... πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚ our 13 year old did all the brooder moving, cleaning, and waterer making himself! He does a great job keeping up with them and I'm always impressed with how he keeps at it, even with it being such a yucky job! 😍

More duckling pictures! They're all currently thriving and we're all enjoying watching and holding them. 😍

The last Pic is of one of the cutest ones! I live it's speckled feet, the little stripe on its face, and the contrast in colors. I can't wait to see how it feathers out!

The faces I came out to this morning... Aren't they adorable? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

9 of the 11 are in the brooder! The last two to hatch were still a bit damp so we left them in the incubator to dry off a bit more before putting them back with their buddies.

This was our day all day yesterday! πŸ˜‚ 9 of the 11 eggs hatched on Monday and it was such a fun experience! We got to watch several of them actually hatch and then had some times of hearing a little one yell, "there's another one!" πŸ˜‚

By this morning, all 11 had hatches, but I'll save that for the next post. πŸ˜‰

And we are in lockdown! We shouldn't need to open the incubator again until the ducklings have hatched and tried. πŸ₯³

Just to explain the pics... The first one shows my supplies. Extra water to refill the reservoir and shelf liner because people recommend lining your incubator with it to protect those fragile little legs from slipping all over.

The second picture shows an egg "pipping" already! The little break you can see means a duckling has broken through the shell and is resting a bit before finishing his hatch! This is way earlier than I was expecting, so we'll see how it all goes! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‰

Third picture is all the eggs sitting back in the slightly changed incubator and ready to go the rest of the way!

Fourth picture is of the 12th egg. I knew that one had died several days ago and decided to break it open to see what it looked like. So fascinating! I'm pretty sure our Blue Swedish duck was this one's daddy... It had grayish feathers and the little white bib that Swedish ducks are known for! Sad that it died, but still neat to see! At least, I think so. πŸ˜‰

One week from Hatch Day!

Sorry for the horrible videos... I was trying to video and turn the egg and hold the towel over my head to keep it dark... all at the same time. πŸ˜‚
