Wild hops collected at Miller Creek near Meeker. 2 row and cascade for bittering, then I will throw the wild hops in at 15 minutes and flame out. I will split my batch in half and use 2 different yeasts. Stay tuned 🍻

New beer! I posted this on my personal site a couple days ago, which is so embarrassing.

With that being said, I’m not embarrassed, I also renamed this beer. I’m calling it VIT_C. It can heal and make you feel better without nuisance of pulp and vitamin c getting in the way of a good buzz.

My first trip out of the US was amazing for so many reasons, and we went to Mazatlan, Mexico. Old city, good people, 1 or 2 sketchy places….when we arrived, it was all about the beer (Pacifico) and how many I could kill. The next morning, day 2, it was all about the all inclusive breakfast .

You are probably thinking, how does weird goat cheese and sh*tty scrambled eggs make its way into a beer…. Well, it doesn’t, but fruit does

Orange, grapefruit, pineapple and melon somehow make its way into this 5.5%/45 IBU IPA, yet it drinks smoother then a sh*tty day 2 Mazatlan mimosa. All the fruit flavor is coming from Citra and Amarillo hops. A bit of sweetness when it hits your tongue, a fresh breakfast bar of fruit in the nose and tongue…but enough bitterness at the end to remind you, you are drinking beer without being an obnoxious IPA!

No aditional flavors or fruits added

The son of Austrian immigrants but born here in the states near Cicero Illinois (think Al Capone) and born around 1900, pictured below is an original color photo (not sure how they colored photos then) Alfred William Trinko (photo prob taken in the 30s).

At an early age, Alfred William Trinko would change his name to William Alfred Brown because he wanted an “American” name, and move west to Idaho. He was canal rider for the farmers pulling water from the Snake River near Richfield Idaho

Family lore has it that he was also a homebrewer. During prohibition and the Great Depression of the 30s, one of my uncles stated that Grandpa traded homebrews with neighbors in southern Idaho for goods to help his growing family (eventually 8 kids). Another uncle mentioned that what Grandpa Brown brewed was more of a “malt liquor”. Even my old man has mentioned sneaking into the cellar to “pop a top” of grandpas home brew….

With that being said, is there anyone out there who has old family beer, ale, or malt liquor recipes they would be willing to share? I would love to brew Grandpa Browns, but the recipe seems to be lost…

31 years…. We did move away from Meeker for several years, but we are back in the same town and the same house that this picture was taken in. I have a different straw hat now, but I still have the “Elway” ball cap that is hanging from the elk (it’s in for repairs now)….More importantly,…..the same young lady standing across from me in this picture is the same beautiful lady I come home to everyday. Life has certainly been hard on us the last few years, but for me, I don’t know a stronger or better person. Love you Denise!
