People always ask Kylie how she keeps hair on her cow even in the heat of the summer in Arkansas. Lots of barn time during the day so she’s out of the sun and heat, fans on her during the day, rinsing and keeping her hide cool and working her hair everyday.

Sometimes things don’t go right. The banners and fun videos are what people like to see, it makes everyone feel good but that’s not what it comes down to. It’s a kid keeping an animal alive, it’s making a note that a breeding didn’t go the way you wanted it to, it’s knowing there is another generation learning from you and knowing that it keeps going when your gone. If this calf makes it, it’s a good day, but tomorrow we talk about her momma, the bull we choose to use, and decide what to do to keep breeding better cattle.

We have been blessed enough to experience most of what this country has to offer over the years. We settled in to our niche, but it’s always nice to take a break and go enjoy the other parts of this great country that we love.

Love the multiple lines on any afternoon. Helped another farm out with some AI work, kid that is showing the heifer got to help, and their genetics got improved. I’m all for running a clean up bull, but you can’t convince me that AI/embryo work isn’t the quickest and most cost effective way to improve a herd.
