Tonight as my sweet mama came over for birthday dinner for one of the kiddos she made some comments on my home and honestly just made my heart melt. Mama and daddy lived here for quit a few years before moving to another place down the road. This place was always kinda a safe place for me also. When I moved here a few years ago the place had been empty for a few years and work had to be done. I was able to make this place my own. Nothing major but my own.
As mama came in tonight she said she just loved the ambiance of it my little lamps and all the little things she said that there’s a zen a simplicity. she even said she just wanted to stay and not leave. PEACE Then There was a comment that was really special she mentioned my great grandma sutah there were things that reminder her of her. That was all I needed. I knew I did everything right with this home I knew the home I was trying to create for my children was exactlly what I was striving for . I wanted and needed a home that took a step back in time, a home that was simple, and home that reminded you of a time and place that made you all warm and fuzzy. Most of all a home that reminded someone of their great grandma. My babies never got to meet that amazing great grandmother I strive to stay so close to but I now know they get a little piece of her each day in my home, the meals I make, and the stories I tell .

Only one of these kiddos is my blood child but that doesn’t make a difference to me I love them all the same. I say that to say I have a rule in my house that is close to my heart it’s Sunday night dinner every Sunday and no matter what that dinner will happen we will gather. It’s usually only my oldest and his girlfriend every other week since the other kiddos are at dads but dinner on Sunday still stands. Tonight my table was filled with his friends they have learned dinner is at my house on Sunday and they have slowly started showing up they know there always welcomed. It was such a blessing to hear the laughter and to hear funny stories and them playing around. I think to many times now days family and friends drift apart they get busy and disconnected but I was not going to let that happen I wanted to bring back that old school Sunday night dinner gathering the big family dinner that is set in stone on a pacific night
this is something I will continue as the rest of my other 5 get older and grown and gone I think it’s so important to step back and take the time !
