March was a collection of major and tiny moments — marked by Hudson’s now-3-year-old wonder, Ava’s infectious spirit, nine years of marriage, beautiful meals and the beautiful people seated around them.

I’m overwhelmed by all that we witnessed this month as I combed through my camera roll — and I want to bottle it up forever. Behind the Blog

Growing up, I was not your average Southern Belle. While other little girls might have been more interested in dolls, I preferred to play “restaurant” and had quite the palate for a young child. I watched Food Network (rather than Cartoon Network) and looked up to Rachael Ray, Giada, Martha, and Ina. When it was time for my bat mitzvah, I asked for Williams Sonoma gift cards to buy the one thing I’d been eyeing — my very own yellow KitchenAid mixer.

I continued to save and added to my collection with knives, baking equipment, a bread maker, and sushi kits forcing my younger sister to play sous chef or watch me star in my own “cooking show.” That early passion for all things food led me to Caramelized, my outlet for expressing my love for cooking and entertaining with my favorite people.
