Fall sheep shearing?
That’s right!
Our Leicester Longwool lambs have been working hard all summer to produce this beautiful lambswool, and now they get to experience their first haircuts. But don’t worry. We are leaving their wool a little long so they don’t get cold as the temperatures start to cool off. 😉

This is a picture of BaaBaa’s wool, partly cut, so you can see how thick his wool actually is. It is so curly it should have some stretch and spring to it, and is incredibly soft.
Leicesters are unique in that they produce SO MUCH wool, they can be sheared twice a year.

Fun fact— shearing keeps our sheep healthy by preventing tangles, making sure they are dirt free, and allowing them to be more comfortable. We also use shearing as a great opportunity to check their hooves, health, and confirm they have the nutrition they need. As a bonus, they get extra scratches and some sweet treats for a job well done.

FYI— BaaBaa is extremely healthy with the right amount of fat. Happy boy!
