What is the RGVLS Gala?
The RGVLS Gala Club began as a community led effort to raise money for RGVLS Exhibitors at the Sale of Champions. Through the years, the work has paid off and paid out over 1 Million dollars to some of the the hardest working youth in the RGV. The Gala club purchases projects from the Annual Sale of Champions. This Fundraiser is hosted every year, to secure the funds needed to purchase the projects of the RGVLS Youth Exhibitors.

Our community partners, sponsors, and donors make it possible to touch the lives of all these kids. We Thank You in Advance for your consideration of a donation or a sponsorship to this event.

Our Story

In 1939, the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Agricultural Exposition, the forerunner of today's Show, was organized as a project of the Mercedes Chamber of Commerce. The first show was held in 1940 on the grounds of a local livestock sales yard with make shift pens and lean-to sheds. The Show continued to be held on this same property until 1949 when it moved to its present location at 1000 North Texas in Mercedes. In 1947, the Show was incorporated and chartered as a non-profit educational organization with a Board of Directors representing all of the four southmost counties of Texas. Up until 1955, all livestock was shown primarily in tents. By 1979, all exhibits which were one housed in some 12 tents were in permanent buildings located on slightly over 100 acres. Volunteers from all walks of life and a dedicated Board of Directors give endless hours of their time to make the Show a success. Without them it would be impossible to produce the Show as the cost would be excessive. The Show has continued to grow each year and now ranks as one of the top ten in the State. People from all over Texas eagerly anticipate the event and come to enjoy the many activities including a parade, rodeos, competitive livestock events and the many, many attractions which are scheduled daily.

So what’s going on with the mega passes !? I think we deserve answers. Thank u
I am sorry to hear that this event was closed down. We understand that you all did not see or want to close but we did not see this either. We should be refunded for the mega passes or give us a number to contact someone that can help us.
is the rodeo event march 18 closed?
Stacey and Markie won big at the fair.....congrats
Please cancel the livestock show. I know you're concerned about the profit losses, but to continue it is madness given the health crisis going on. My folks are 80+ and plan to attend; if I were living down there still, I would find a safer venue, like a walk in the park. Please you don't realize how quickly this can spread. Please reconsider and act fast--ten days of this is way too risky. Thank you for the consideration.
Your failure to close the event is unconscionable and irresponsible. Social distancing is very effective at mitigating the transmission of COVID-19. Shame on you!
Thank you for thinking of the showman and all the families and kids❤️ We are raised to wash our hand, use antibacterial and cover cough and sneezes. The media has hyped this so bad and I am sorry but Spring Break is here and we raise livestock we are use to worse👍
The Rio Grande Valley Livestock show needs to shut down to protect the people of the valley!!!
When is Cantastic night?
Is there a phone number that I can call about handicaps seating?
Are you ready for some show and Rodeo??
