This is your sign. If you live in the Treasure Valley and you have not done anything about your hard water, this is literally your sign to stop putting it off. πŸ’§

Here is what is happening inside your water heater right now whether you know it or not. Our water comes up from deep wells, some of them a thousand feet down, and it arrives carrying dissolved calcium and magnesium. When that water sits in a hot tank, the minerals settle out as scale. A thick, crusty layer of it. I drained the heater in my own garage after my first year in this business and what came out looked like gravel.

That scale acts like insulation between the burner and the water, so your heater works harder and runs longer to hit the same temperature. Lab testing found hard water can rob a water heater of up to half its efficiency. A tank heater is built to last 10 to 12 years. Ask any plumber in this valley how often they pull them out at year seven or eight. Scale is usually why. And if you are in one of the new builds off Ten Mile or Chinden, do not assume you are safe because the house is new. The buildup started the day they turned your water on.

A whole-home softener fixes it at the source. One system, the whole house. Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Eagle, Star, Kuna. Free in-home quotes, link in bio. This was your sign. πŸ‘‡

Most people drive past the Idaho State Capitol every single day and have no idea what is keeping that building warm. πŸ’§

The Capitol is heated by geothermal energy. Hot water from deep underground. And not just the Capitol. More than 90 buildings downtown run on the city's system, and the houses along Warm Springs Avenue have been heating themselves with underground hot water since 1892. That is literally why the street is called Warm Springs, and it is the oldest geothermal heating district in America. Boise runs the largest municipally operated geothermal system in the country, and ours is the only geothermal-heated state capitol in the United States. The water comes up at around 177 degrees.

Now here is the part that connects to your house. That heat and your hard water come out of the same deep basin under this valley. Your drinking water sits in hundreds of feet of ancient lakebed sediment left behind by prehistoric Lake Idaho, and on its way to your tap it dissolves calcium and magnesium out of that ground. So when you see scale on your faucet or your water heater dies early, that is not a plumbing problem. That is the ground under this valley doing what it has always done.

I have lived in this valley for years and I genuinely did not know where my tap water was coming from until I got into this business. πŸ’§

The week I started this company, the first thing I did was test the water at my own kitchen sink, and it came back hard. Here is what I learned. If you are in Boise, about 70 percent of your water comes up from around 80 wells, some of them 1,100 feet deep. Only the rest comes from the Boise River. And if you are in Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Kuna, or Star, it is 100 percent groundwater. Every single drop.

Here is the wild part. This whole valley used to be the bottom of a prehistoric lake. Lake Idaho. Your water filters through hundreds of feet of that ancient lakebed, sand and silt and ground-up granite washed off the Idaho Batholith, and it dissolves calcium and magnesium out of those minerals the entire way. That is what hardness is. The state has carbon-dated the deep water here at 10,000 to 40,000 years old. Older than the pyramids.

It explains the crusty faucets, the spotted dishes, the dry skin, the water heater working harder than it should. That is why we started TrueWater Idaho. Local installer, not a franchise, not a call center. Follow along if you want to know what is in the water under your house. πŸ‘‡

Pull a glass out of the dishwasher and it is already cloudy and spotted? πŸ’§

Your dishes are not dirty, your Treasure Valley water is just hard. Those white spots are dried mineral deposits, 8 to 17 grains of them in most Idaho homes. A whole-home softener clears it up, spotless glasses, no film, no rinse aid needed.

Ever wonder why Idaho water is so hard? πŸ’§

We are the Gem State for a reason. Our water travels up through mineral-rich volcanic and granite rock, picking up calcium and magnesium the whole way. That is why it is clear but loaded, 8 to 17 grains in most Treasure Valley homes. Clear does not mean soft.

A whole-home system takes those minerals out. We are TrueWater Idaho, local to the valley. Follow for more. πŸ‘‡

Hard water is hardest on the one appliance you never think about, your water heater. πŸ’§

Here in the Treasure Valley, mineral scale builds up on the heating element and makes it work harder every year, which is how a heater built to last 12 years dies in 7. A whole-home softener keeps the scale out and your equipment alive longer.

Quick honest note from a local Treasure Valley water guy. πŸ’§

The big national water brands sell the same equipment we do, then mark it up by thousands and run a high-pressure pitch in your kitchen. We are locally owned, the owner answers the phone, and the price is fair. Same soft water, none of the franchise games.

TrueWater Idaho, right here in the valley. πŸ‘‡

Thinking about a salt-free water system in Idaho? Here is the honest truth. πŸ’§

Salt-free units are conditioners, not softeners. They can change how the minerals behave, but they do not actually remove the hardness, and Treasure Valley water runs 8 to 17 grains. If you want truly soft water, you need a real softener.

We will always tell you straight. TrueWater Idaho, your local water people. πŸ‘‡
