This morning’s feed turned into the sweetest surprise… 🐷💕

We walked out to feed everyone and discovered that Birdie, our Kune Kune mama, had welcomed a brand-new litter overnight! A few of the piglets had wandered behind the gate, so we carefully gathered them up and moved the whole little family into their own space where Birdie could relax and care for her babies without the other pigs around.

Safe, cozy, and already stealing our hearts. Welcome to the ranch, little ones! 🤎🌾✨

🐄 Today is Chick-fil-A Cow Appreciation Day and it reminded us to take a moment to appreciate the cows here on the ranch too. ❤️

You may remember the calves that escaped and gave us a run for our money. Sadly, our black baby calf passed away overnight. We had to lay him to rest before the vultures reached him and hearing Mama call out for her baby was one of the hardest moments we’ve experienced.

Life on a ranch isn’t always easy but moments like these remind us to cherish every animal we’re blessed to care for. 🤍🌾

🌳😂 Be careful what you believe on the internet…

We came outside to do one thing, somehow ended up doing something completely different. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Moral of the story: Don’t believe everything you see online. 😂 What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever believed?

Part 3: Boone & Shadow’s Integration 🐴🖤

Boone and Shadow have officially become best friends! 🥹 They follow each other everywhere, share food, and stick side by side all day. While they’re not fully accepted by the herd just yet the other horses have finally stopped running them around. Progress!

PSA: Shadow (our black horse) came to us with the leg wound already there. We’ve been treating it daily. He also developed hives from something in the pasture and scratched his scab back open, but daily cleaning has helped a lot. Any recommendations for helping horses with hives and itching? 💚

Our little runt has officially made a full recovery. 🐷❤️

After weeks of heavy rain, he started wheezing, so we brought him inside for about two weeks to give him the best chance to heal.

We kept him in a warm, dry space next to an air purifier and made sure he stayed well-fed with goat’s milk, pig feed, and plenty of fruits and veggies. 🥛🍎🥕

The good news? His wheezing started improving after just a few days. The better news? It was completely gone a little over a week later. 🙌

Now that he’s healthy again, he was finally able to go back outside with his mom and the rest of the family. 🐖💚

Have you ever had to nurse a baby animal back to health? We’d love to hear your experience or any tips you swear by in the comments! 👇🏾

Stay tuned we’ll be posting the moment he reunites with his mom next! 🥹🐷

🇺🇸✨ The 4th of July at Akachi Ranch is more than just a celebration it’s a tradition. ❤️🤍💙

Every year we gather around good food 🍔🌭, great music 🎶, family ❤️, horseback riding 🐎, kayaking 🚣🏾, fishing 🎣, laughter and a fireworks show that lights up the sky over the lake. 🎆🌊

As we celebrate, we also take time to reflect. The Fourth reminds us of how far we’ve come, to be grateful for the freedoms we enjoy, and to continue building a future where those freedoms can be experienced by everyone.

If you can picture yourself watching fireworks reflect across the lake, surrounded by nature, family, and community… we’d love to welcome you. ✨

Beginning July 2027, Akachi Ranch will be opening our annual 4th of July celebration to the public. We can’t wait to make new memories with you. 🤎🌾

See you at the ranch. 🇺🇸

🤎 Part 2: Shadow & Boone’s Journey Continues! 🐴✨

While Shadow still hasn’t been fully accepted into the main herd, something incredible came out of it. ❤️ Boone and Shadow have become the best of friends.

Sometimes all it takes is one friend to make a new place feel a little more like home. 🥹 We patiently wait for the rest of the herd to (hopefully 🤞) welcome them into the group.

Herd dynamics can take time, especially when a close-knit herd has been together for years. We’re letting them move at their own pace and keeping everyone’s safety the priority. 🐎

Do you think the rest of the herd will eventually accept them? Let us know in the comments! ⬇️💛

🐴 Shadow Update – Part 1! 🤎

Our newest horse, Shadow, has had a tough time integrating with the herd. 💔 The original four horses have been together for so long that they’re a very tight-knit group. The boys are especially protective of “their girls” so they’ve been constantly chasing Shadow away instead of letting him join the herd. 😔

Since he was spending so much time by himself we decided to introduce him to Boone to see if they could become friends. 🐎🤝 This is their very first introduction!

Also, if you notice the scratches on Shadow, they’re not from the other horses. He had an allergic reaction to something in the pasture and has been itching himself on the wire fence posts which caused the marks. ❤️‍🩹

Throwing it back to Dr. Carlos Walker’s birthday on May 11th! 🎂🎉 Just as we started singing Happy Birthday, a tiny fly decided it deserved the first taste of cake before any of us did. 🪰🍰 What followed was pure chaos as we tried to rescue the cake while somehow staying on beat and finishing the song. 😂

Moments like these at Akachi Ranch remind us how important it is to slow down, be present, and enjoy the imperfect, laughter-filled memories with family. ❤️🌿

Our little runt piglet had been wheezing for a few days and with all the rain we decided it was time to bring him inside and keep a close eye on him. 🐷🩺

Since we weren’t sure what was causing it, we avoided giving him a bath or getting him too wet. Instead we kept him warm, comfortable, and bottle-fed him goat’s milk while helping nurse him back to health. ❤️🥛

Like and comment for Part 2 to see his progress! ✨
