A big thank you to Tryon Farm for inviting us out to their amazing property While the were less than cooperative with our efforts to help monitor their population, we learned a lot about tagging and the butterfly lifecycle.
It was a wonderful night for a walk around the certified trail on the property and we can't wait to return!

Here’s a walk down memory lane of when former resident Paula Hardin led the creation of our labyrinth, followed by a special blessing by monks. Here’s the story according to Eve Noonan, founding Pioneer of Tryon Farm:
A peace activist friend told Paula he was coming for lunch, just after we all worked on the labyrinth and celebrated. She went to Al’s and got stuff for two ham sandwiches. A bus pulled up with these guys who did a lovely ceremony of dedication with 8 foot long horns, bowls of roses on some heads and strange magic sounds. Now it is lunchtime and these monks are vegetarians!! Drove to Chinese place on 421 and bought pans of veggies and rice etc. The sweet owner so fascinated she closed her place and joined us all on Paula’s porch! Guess ham sandwiches saved for another day!

The Tryon Farm Institute Art In Nature series will continue at the Community Bonfire Pit tomorrow night, August 17th, with a concert featuring Tryon resident Mark Grobner, a world-class hammer dulcimer player. Feel free to bring chairs, blankets and picnic essentials! The concert begins at 7:30.
Love walking down the trails, swimming in the pond, and stopping to chat with other farm dwellers!
