Thank you to The Mamasteader for an awesome workshop this past weekend at the Mitten Homesteading Conference where I learned to make my own SOAP! Excited to dive into learning more and making our own soaps here on the homestead!!

Enjoying a relaxing Sunday evening outside and looking forward to the week ahead. We are still trying to get our garden planting finished and praying we get the tiller fixed and working so it gets finished this week! We also need desperately to finish the ground cover situation in the duck enclosure because it is a literal hot mess and we need to get some pea gravel down ASAP. Fencing needs to happen, we have our next group of chicks that are old enough to move out of the grow-out and into the adult coop later this week, and I really need to squeeze in making some sourdough this week, too. Living by the saying “Blessed, Not Stressed!” this week! 🖤🙌🏻🖤

My baby geese are already learning to protect their flock of ducks and this was really cool to watch in real time!! They’re all grazing and relaxing in the yard and a turkey vulture has been circling. I’ve been watching it … and so have they. It came too close for their comfort and UP they went! Not full alarm mode as it quickly passed by and was gone, but it was awesome to watch them alert to danger!

Happy Wednesday! Anyone have any big plans this week? I was humbled by the trailer earlier this week and ended up falling. I’m fine, but still really sore so taking today to relax a little and rest up before we switch gears tomorrow to start planting the garden. 🪴🫜🍅🫛🪏

Anyone else have geese?! These three beauties are our Sebastopol geese and My Oh My are they growing into some awesome birds to have here on the homestead! Since we don’t know gender just yet, I’m calling them my Golden Girls: Dorothy, Blanche, & Rose 🤍. I will not lie - I never thought I’d have ducks, let alone geese, but here we are!! I am so excited to see them fully grown for the gorgeous color variety between the three!

These TWO are crowing and so we need some good names! Our current rooster is Garth (he’s a light Brahma) and so we were thinking of naming one of these guys Wayne (from Wayne’s World). Looking for a third name to go with rooster #3 - give me your best ideas!
