Pruney aka Marcus - sold 2006
Training & Lessons with Heidi Wardle, specializing in Amateur Event riders and OTTBs. Coaching, Sales, Consignment, Group Clinics & Custom Programs
If you are a rider that wants to improve your horsemanship and explore the entry/lower levels of dressage & eventing but are intimidated by the big name upper level riders or can't afford to commit to a complete training program, then I can help you! I have 7 years experience under the instruction of an Olympic level rider and specialize in working with the adult amateur/hobbyist/"back yard rider" that is interested in improving their skills and learning to event or compete at a starter level. All types and levels of horses and riders are welcome. I try to keep my rates affordable and schedules flexible so that riders on a budget can still have an opportunity to get the assistance they need. Limited boarding available starting at $600/mo at my facility, haul in lessons available and limited possibility of travel to other facilities in the Middleburg area. Please contact me if you are interested in joining a small individualized lesson and training program to achieve your goals! You will not be 'just another client' at a big training barn, you will be a valued member of a fun riding group!
Pruney aka Marcus - sold 2006
9 years ago I completed the Waredaca Training 3-Day with Moving Illusion. Such a super fun weekend and an experience I am so glad to have had!
Transformation Tuesday! Jupiter (Jockey Club: Run For Canada) in his weanling registration photos 2009 - fast forward to first level dressage horse in 2017.
Cold Spice is adjusting to life on the farm!

Today I fully embraced my farm name and couldn't stop myself from taking a chance on this horse, who I think is going to turn into something special! We've got a lot of work to do - he's not in the best of shape , but hopefully being away from the race track will help with that! But I think his transformation is going to be extraordinary! He is a long term project and will spend the winter getting some R & R and lots of food! Welcome to the farm, Cold Spice!
It's AECs weekend which always makes me reminisce about my first trip to AECs in Chicago in 2009 - Moving Illusion (Gemini) was absolutely perfect to finish 6th in the Training Horse division. Maybe one day I'll get back to eventing :)
So proud of Life Is EZ aka Joey!!!! Congrats Rachel!!
So impressed with your riding Rachel Strein! Congratulations to you and Joey for placing 10th at AEC's up against some really tough competition.
Awesome picture of Olivia Carr and TACF Alum Frankie!!! Well done guys, what a great round!!!
Good luck to TACF Alum "Life Is EZ" who is making his second trip to American Eventing Championships this weekend! Several of our former horses have ended up competing at this amazing competition and we are proud to see them accomplish this!
Ararat aka Jasper - sold August 2017
It was a happy/sad day on the farm today as we sent Ararat aka Jasper off to his new home in North Carolina! I had this last ride on him last night and he was just so good, I am so proud of how this horse has developed since he has been with me. His new teen rider is going to have a super fun time continuing to bring him along and enjoying his love of the jumping phases! TACF wishes them the best!

Training horses never goes in a straight line - you take a few steps forward, a few back, fill in some missing pieces, add something new and occasionally see a little progress. It might take me another 5 years to get Jupiter really going correctly, but at least he gives me things to work on every day!
1 stall available immediately for boarder at our small private eventing/dressage farm in Middleburg VA. Ideally this boarder would be able to help with barn chores in exchange for reduced board. Full care, 12 x 12 stalls with fans and night time turn-out, 100x200 outdoor arena with jumps and access to miles of trails. We are not interested in taking in any retirees or rehabs, we are seeking an active boarder that may be interested in riding/hacking out with me and going to shows/clinics together. Board is $600 per month before any reductions. Geldings only please. Contact me via messenger or email [email protected] if you have any interest.

Another TCF transformation! And perhaps one of our most popular! Illusion Of You is a 1998 gelding I purchased from Cottonwood Riding Club in 2003 and competed to the training level in Colorado. "Leo" is one of the best jumping horses I've ever sat on - he even used to kick up his heels in protest when he accidentally hit a rail. After showing a Pony Clubber the ropes at BN, Leo came to Virginia and was sold to a young rider who successfully rode him to the 2* level. His last job before retirement was to take yet another young rider to her first time at Preliminary level. While dressage was never his strongest phase, this horse always made up for it with his impressive jumping ability. He is definitely one of our favorites!
Jupiter hasn't jumped in competition since last fall, but why not enter a novice level CT on a whim? He enjoyed it immensely and jumped a clear round.
We've highlighted some of our past sales horses and their transformations and next up is Awesome Minister, though most people know him as Moving Illusion, or Gemini. He was sold in 2010 simply due to the fact that I had to 'pay for college', which in my case was debt encrued after years of being a working student! This once in a lifetime horse found a wonderful home and after taking him up to preliminary myself he continued on to the Intermediate level with his new rider.
Tulla Gold is golden in so many ways. ❤️❤️❤️
Here's Jasper, schooling yesterday to prep for his trip to Morningside today where he jumped very bravely around the Beginner Novice show jump! This was by far the biggest course I have asked him to jump, and he did it after waiting his turn quietly for probably 45 minutes! He is getting good exposure to the different phases and will be ready to put it all together soon!
Jasper finally got to learn about cross country jumping and did really well for his first experience! Did water banks and ditches with no issues. He'll make a lovely event horse for someone to bring along!
Jasper is really coming along as he gains strength and education. There are some nice pieces to develop with this horse. I really feel he'd be wonderful in the jumper ring but he will event too. If it ever stops raining we will get him out to some cross country, in the mean time, buy him now before his price goes up! https://youtu.be/k-PAvW-ZyLY
Nelson - 2009 TB/Percheron X Gelding - Sold May 2017
Congratulations to Emily Ristau and trainer Lissa Mccauley on the purchase of Nelson! Look for him out hunting with Orange County next season! Good luck with him!
Jasper competed in the 2'6 division at the Sandstone VHSA show today and placed in all of his classes! He said it was hard to be as fast and clean as those kids on their ponies but he was brave and jumped all the new and bigger fences with no issues and handled the show grounds like an old pro. This horse wants to be in the jumper ring and will be quite agile and handy in the jump offs!
Super proud of TACF alumnus Frankie who is clearly rocking the jumper classes with new owner Olivia Carr
1st Field Foxhunter for Sale! 8 year old 16.2h Percheron/TB Gelding - hunted 2 seasons with Piedmont by an amateur. Big boned but short coupled making him a smooth and easy ride. "Nelson" prefers the hunt field over ring work and would like to continue as a hunt horse as his owner is unable to continue hunting. $20k
