Time for a little “tech refresh” at Parsons Farm 🐄

Our bull Pete officially outgrew the old squeeze chute, so we upgraded to a Palco—and it’s a game changer. Strong, safe, and American made 🇺🇸

Big thanks to Berry Gray at Stockdale’s for helping us get everything set up right.

Also, shoutout to TAEP for helping make upgrades like this possible for small farms.

Hope y’all have a great day… and eat more beef 🥩

Doing some brush destruction today. This should destroy the briars, . allow the sunlight to hit the floor of the pasture, and prevent further growth of the briars. On a good note, when I started doing this this morning I happen to know we have another calf. I hope you enjoy your day as much as I enjoy watching this calf

Farming lesson of the week: cows don’t care if you’re at work.

While I was flying for my day job as a Helicopter Air Ambulance Pilot, spring floods washed out under the fence and the herd went to visit the neighbors. By the time I landed back at base, my wife had already rounded up all 30 cows… by herself. 💪🐄

Culverts, concrete, and rock are now in place. Fence stays. Cows stay.

Also: 8 new calves and one seriously capable wife.

Hope everyone makes it through the storm safely!

One Saturday morning around 11:00 a.m., I landed at Jackson General Hospital and shut the helicopter down. (My day job is a Helicopter Air Ambulance pilot.) Shortly after landing, my wife called to tell me the herd was m...

When the water lines freeze and the cows still need hydration, only lost power for about an hour or so; I had the generator on. Thanks to my nephew Dereck Parsons and neighbor Kevin Marcum for helping wire the generator directly into the box. A 50 amp double pole breaker, 40 feet of 6/4 SO chord and a four prong 50 amp plug, powered most of the house. We will have a lot to clean up when weather breaks. Cody and I plowed Lisbon road so EMS and power company could get down it. Enjoy the snow everyone!

Every roll of hay represents hours of hard work—cutting, raking, baling, hauling. For years, a third of that effort sat outside in the weather, losing value week by week. 🌧️

This year, we decided enough was enough. With the help of TAEP, USDA, and a great crew, Parsons Farm now has a 40’ x 60’ hay barn to protect what we work so hard to grow. 🌾❤️

Another great week of work here on Parsons Farm. My brother Dan came in from OK., we did some brush hogging, added to the hay wall, formed up our next project. We are ready to pour concrete. All this was done in this extreme heat. If you find the time it’s Dans birthday, wish him well.

So this is a Harley Rake, rented it from Thompson CAT. Great way to renew gravel driveways. On a side note, we did get in the first hay cut of the year. Between work and rain I was a a little worried. The UT Forage class is actually pretty good. Appreciate those that tried to spread the word. Hope everyone is safe and doing well.
