Wow!!! Wowow!! I know how I want to make my veggie broth from now on! The tops of leeks with some fresh garlic and thyme. 🤤

Whipping up some potato leek soup for dinner tonight and used the tops of the leeks to make the broth! Best decision ever! I must plant many more leeks next year.

This broth would be amazing for chicken noodle soup too.

Get the full recipe in our newsletter later this week. :)

🌱 These Beans Have Gone Rogue! 😂

This season we grew two different types of pole beans: black beans and green snap beans.

The black beans are SUPER productive! As you can see in the picture, they’re producing so much that they’re literally taking down the support trellis! 😂

The green snap beans are way more chill. They’re just growing along like good little beans, minding their own business. 😆

We’ve learned our lesson for next year—if we grow the black beans again, they’re going to need a MUCH stronger support system!

The plan for these is to leave the pods on the plants until they dry out, then harvest the dried black beans inside.

Apparently, we didn’t grow simple black beans this year…we grew black beans with structural ambitions. 😂🌱

🥕😂 Well… this one did NOT make it to the farmers market!

Every once in a while the garden decides to humble you. 😂

I pulled this carrot last week and honestly… I have no idea what happened here. 🤣 It looks like a whole carrot colony decided to grow on top of each other!

This is definitely one of those “straight to the compost pile” carrots. 😂

Not every harvest is picture perfect, and that’s okay! When you’re growing food naturally, you get some pretty entertaining surprises along the way.

Thankfully, the rest of the carrots are looking much more normal! 🥕❤️

The garden keeps us laughing around here! 😂🌱

So excited!! I think I finally found what works so that my broccoli and cabbage can grow! Instead of having a low-tunnel with insect netting on the top (they still made thier way in and had a feast!) I laid the netting right on top of my plants! Under this netting it’s keeping the insects off my broccoli, cabbage and peas and they are thriving!! Hopefully it’s not too late to produce well. So happy to have found something that works!

Edit: It was enjoyed by all!! 😁

Getting the veggies in and using our harvest! I’m adding swiss chard to this homemade cheeseburger macaroni.

First brown the onion and meat with the stems. Then I added the chopped leaves with the macaroni is almost done.

Lunch today!! So good!! 😋 I swapped the usual mayo/mustard on my turkey sandwich for some fresh pesto I made from our basil! Also I had to thin the radishes so I used the radish greens instead of lettuce. The little hearts made me smile 🙂

The bread is a red pepper/feta sour dough from Tate & Thei ! Made it even better!
