Nothing says summer in New Jersey like a ripe, juicy tomato! Join us for a special farm talk all about the Garden State’s favorite produce—the Jersey tomato. Our guest speaker, Carl Schneider of Piney’s Family Farm, will share insights into the history and cultivation of tomatoes in New Jersey, along with tips on growing them successfully at home. To make the talk even more delicious, there will be fresh samples from their farm to taste—so you can experience firsthand the difference between locally grown and store-bought.

We’ve got “imperfect” tomatoes available — perfect for canning diced tomatoes or cooking up a delicious batch of homemade tomato sauce!

👉 Just $25 per bushel (size of basket shown in picture)
One bushel yields approximately:
• 16–20 quarts of diced tomatoes
• 7–12 quarts of tomato sauce

Some fun facts about Jalapeños:
🔥 Not the hottest pepper!
Jalapeños rank between 2,500 and 8,000 Scoville units—spicy, but still pretty mild compared to ghost peppers or Carolina Reapers!

🌱 They’re actually fruits!
Botanically speaking, jalapeños are fruits because they have seeds and grow from a flower.

🧀 Nacho superstar!
Jalapeños became a stadium snack sensation in the U.S. thanks to nachos introduced at Texas Rangers games in the 1970s.

🌶️ Smoked jalapeños = chipotle!
When jalapeños are smoked and dried, they’re called chipotle peppers—a favorite in Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine.
