Lot #44 tomorrow at the G&G Fall Classic

We have consigned our first cow to the G&G Fall Classic. Fancy Strike is a flashy black and white 3 year old cow who is heavily bred to our bull, Mayhem. She is a friendly girl who enjoys her treats and head scratches. She will be missed here on the farm, but we know she will make a great addition to her new home. Sale is tomorrow in Culpeper, VA.

With the help of Justin Kapp, Madisen Melice, Katie Canyon, and Marshall we were able get the majority of our cattle through the chute for horn measurements, vaccinations and deworming this past weekend. Our bull, Mayhem, was our longest measurement coming in at 89 7/8" tip to tip. We had a productive day with great weather and a lot of family fun.

Farm life can be hard at times. We had a bull calf born early in the morning on Sunday, April 26 during the cold batch of weather we had. We assisted in getting him dried off and with mom, ensuring that he nursed and was able to move around the pasture with mom throughout the day. He seemed to be doing fine, but on Tuesday evening when Greg went out to feed he found him in the mud next to the pond very weak and cold. He immediately brought him in and started lifesaving measures to get his body temperature up. We made every effort over the next three days to get him back on his feet, including tube feeding and subcutaneous fluids, but he never regained enough strength to suckle or thrive. Unfortunately, he lost the battle and we let mom say goodbye and buried him this past Saturday. It's never easy to lose one of your animals, even ones you only knew for a short period of time. We named him Chance.
