Chickens & Chihuahuas: Saturday Chaos… or Saturday Friendship? 🐔💛🐾
Who says dogs and chickens can’t be besties?
At Chi Chi Crew HQ, Saturday mornings look like Max zooming around the yard while our hybrid house hens supervise from the sidelines. Sure, it starts as chaos — feathers flying, chihuahuas doing zoomies, chickens side-eyeing the whole thing — but give it 10 minutes and you’ll catch them sunbathing together.
3 tips we’ve learned about raising pups + poultry:
1. Slow intros win – Let them meet through a fence first. Curiosity > chaos.
2. Respect the pecking order – Chickens need safe spaces dogs can’t crash.
3. Supervise the play dates – Our hens pay rent in eggs, not stress. A calm dog = happy flock.
Turns out “backyard pets that pay rent in eggs” and rescue chihuahuas make a pretty great crew. Who knew Saturday chaos could turn into friendship?
Drop a 🐾 if your dog has a feathered BFF, or 🐔 if your chickens rule the roost
