Countdown to the Fair… day 0. Animals are all tucked in the barn for the night, and the beef kids from agree to meet in the barn at 5:45am to get their steers out and fed, their section of the barn cleaned, and steers back in place by 7am. The Fair opens to the public at 11am. Come see us!

Been busy learning life skills around here.
We encourage you to come out to the Western Montana Fair this week (Tuesday-Sunday at Missoula Fairgrounds) to see all the great animals the kids have worked so hard to raise and bring to town to show and sell. And join us Saturday morning for the Livestock Auction, where you can purchase a beef, hog, lamb, or goat to fill your family’s freezer, while supporting local youth that are the future of our community!

While many kids may be sleeping in during summer vacation, a lot of 4-H kids are up and at it early— bathing, grooming, feeding their creatures. While watching him at 7am, I thought of a recent post from that reported a study showing mental health benefits related to waking up early. I love the work ethic that 4-H teaches, and it’s cool to see some research showing that the early rising can benefit his mental health, too. Whether he decides to do anything with livestock as he gets older or decides on a different path, the skills and habits he’s developing through 4-H will benefit him throughout his life. ☀️
