Check out this fascinating piece of history sent to us by the Moab Museum! Published on August 22, 1972, this newspaper clipping dates back to the third year of growing wine grapes in the Moab Valley. It marks the first year of crop yield, with 93 pounds of grapes sent to Denver for flavor testing by Ivan Cie Winery. At that time, the idea of a winery was still in its infancy. The test results, which showed high sugar and acid levels, confirmed that the climate and soil were perfect for growing grapes. This discovery laid the groundwork for the creation of Spanish Valley Winery.
