Michigan strawberry season: 👍

No, that's not an emoji. That's an actual strawberry.

Celebrate the sweetest season of the year with our Strawberry Lemon Cream Mason Jar Creamy! Bright, sunny, and a little bit playful. Juicy strawberry meets a soft citrus lift for a flavor that feels like the first warm day of the season. Light, creamy, and refreshingly unexpected.

Nature approves. 🍓👍😄

🌱💚 Last fall, during our Three Sisters program at Novi Public Library, we talked about the Indigenous planting tradition of corn, beans, and squash—how each plant supports the others, and how food carries stories across generations.

We tasted Michigan-grown beans from Sheridan Acres and sent participants home with a few to plant if they wished.

This week, one of those participants attended our Taste the Season: Sunflowers to Seeds program and shared this photo.

Look at those beans! 🌱

There's something special about seeing a seed discussed at a library program become a living plant months later in someone's garden. It's a reminder that food education isn't just about tasting—it's about curiosity, connection, and sometimes getting a little dirt under your fingernails.

Thank you for sharing your garden with us. We can't wait to see what happens next.

🍦☀️ Hello, Summer! ☀️🍦

For generations, summer has tasted a lot like ice cream.

From hand-churned treats shared on front porches to favorite family recipes passed down through the years, some traditions never go out of style. There's just something about a cold, creamy treat on a warm evening that feels like summer.

This season, we're celebrating with our Mason Jar Creameries:

🍫 Rustic Chocolate — deep, rich, and unapologetically chocolatey
🍁 Maple Cream — warm, golden, and gently sweetened with real maple notes
🍓🍋 Strawberry Lemon Cream — bright, sunny, and just a little bit playful

Simply mix, shake, freeze, and enjoy.

Here's to long summer evenings, sticky fingers, laughter on the deck, and making a few sweet memories of your own.

🌻 From Sunflowers to Seeds 🌻

What a fantastic evening at Novi Public Library for Taste the Season: Sunflowers to Seeds!

Together we explored the amazing journey of seeds—from garden to table—learning how the same seed can offer completely different flavors and textures depending on how it's prepared. As we discussed, comparing a seed in different states is a bit like comparing a grape, a raisin, and fine wine—same origin, entirely different experience.

The evening wrapped up with everyone creating their own custom trail mix blend to take home.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a night of tasting, learning, and conversation about seeds, pollinators, and the incredible diversity hidden inside some of nature's smallest packages. These curious, engaged audiences are what make these programs so much fun!

🍝 Food Confession Time...

We all have that one dish. For me, it's spaghetti sauce.
I don't like most restaurant tomato gravy. I like my mom's.

When I was in college, I lived with a woman whose family came from a different part of Italy. The first time she made sauce, I was horrified.
"Why is there a pork chop in the pot?"
"Why are there green peppers in there?"
Clearly, she was doing it wrong. 😆

That's the funny thing about food. We think our favorite version is about ingredients, but it's usually about memories. The recipe we grew up with becomes the recipe that feels "right."

So tell me:
🥔 Potato salad? 🌶️ Chili? 🍝 Spaghetti sauce? 🧀 Mac & cheese? 🥒 Pickles?

What's the one dish where everyone else's version just seems wrong because yours is the one you grew up with?

👇 Let's hear your most opinionated food takes. I know you've got them. 😄
