Getting close to the first summer CSA share! Members, make sure to look out for the email!

Wanted to share some photos of the first zone on the farm! Had really nice growth over the last few weeks! Lots of mustard mix, kale mix, salad mix, miles of radish and turnips! Tomatoes and eggplants knee-high at the moment, putting on flowers and fruit! Lots more growing and lots more successions being planted! I'm taking the next week to completely rebuild the watering system and I can't wait to show you more updates! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Fences, unsung heroes of the farming and gardening world. Here's an action shot of A whitetail Doe being denied entry to my half mile of turnips and radishes we have planted!... I was planting succession transplants And must have been quiet enough, because the slightest noise sent this doe freaking back out into the woods!

At the heart of my soil this year is biochar. It is made in a process of pyrolysis in which I'm burning chipped wood from the limbs of trees I felled to make the farm space. I'm using a double barrel pyrolysis method in which the wood chips burn without actually being exposed to flame. Leaving behind a perfect carbon lattice structure, which is essentially a battery for nutrients, mycological activity, and water. After the chips are cooked, I shake them through several sized sifting baskets to sort everything by size, And then crush batches using two steel sheets and my van as a weight to run over them over and over until they are this size,. I let this batch soak in water for 2 weeks before crushing it and the results came out absolutely perfect! After I have a 50 gallon barrel full of char, it will be inoculated using an aeration pump, compost tea and organic nutrient rich water. It will become one of the elements of the soil I'm trying to build out here, which includes sifted forest loam and compost, in 3 ft wide permaculture beds. Can't wait to show you more!

We are officially opening our 2026 delivery-only CSA program! If you want the freshest, organically grown heirloom produce delivered from our Montague forest farm directly to your doorstep, this is your invitation!

What is a CSA?
A CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture, is a direct partnership between your farmer and the community where members "subscribe" to the farm's harvest in advance of the growing season. By paying a membership fee upfront, you provide the farmer with the necessary capital to purchase seeds and equipment, and in return, you receive a regular "share" of the freshest, peak-season produce throughout the spring, summer and fall. It is a relationship-based food model that ensures the farmer has a stable market while giving members direct access to the seasonal bounty of their local landscape delivered direct to their door!

๐Ÿชต Our Growing Principles:
Pure & Local: No pesticides, herbicides, or GMOsโ€”just organic practices in mineral-rich soil amended with organic composts, biochar, and the natural protection of our forest canopy right here in Montague.

Heirloom Investment: We prioritize flavor and history, growing almost entirely heritage varieties of market classic vegetables, root veggies, herbs, and fruits.

Self Sufficiency: We are dedicated to remaining energy self sufficient as our entire operation is solar powered!

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ The 25-Week Experience
Weather Permitting! Our season runs for an estimated 25 consecutive weeks, following the natural Michigan harvest (Estimated June 1st โ€“ Nov 16th). Dates subject to change with the weather.

A Complete CSA menu will be added in short time!, but you can expect variety and abundance!
