house. Prior to moving to South Montgomery County, I lived in Lowndes County. A little about myself....I grew up in Montgomery, AL went to college at Wesleyan College and the University of South Florida. I was on the equestrian team at Wesleyan where I majored in biology. I continued biology at the University of South Florida. I spend my summer breaks working with Lake Wales Veterinary Hospital as a summer intern. I am married to an amazing man who supports all of my crazy ideas. I have 3 horses, 7 goats, 20 rabbits, 3 dogs, and 2 cats at the moment. We will be getting new chickens this spring. We have had pigs and quail in the past. My grandfather was a cattleman so I spent much of my childhood on a cattle farm. I look forward to caring for your animals. This page is for sharing about our animals and growing in our knowledge and fondness for them. Message, text or call me for current rates and any dates you have in mind. I look forward to serving you and loving your animals/farms/barns.

Things got really cold here at Farm Nanny's place! We don't usually see this kind of cold weather. Of course all of our goats dropped their babies as the temperatures plummeted. We were worried about all our little goats, but they did fine snug in the barn.

Biosecurity is important. Working with local producers is a good way to ensure the biosecurity of your own flock.

Friday, the Peachstate Poultry Show was canceled due to confirmed cases of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in Georgia. Alabama also confirmed cases in December 2024.

Maintaining strong biosecurity practices is one of the best ways to protect your flock. Consider the ways disease can be introduced to your farm. For example, wearing the same shoes to the feed store and then walking around your flock can spread harmful pathogens. Wild birds are another common source of contamination, prevent them from accessing your waterers, feeders, to reduce the risk of disease.

Here are some steps you can take:

No farm visits
Off site pickups
Farm only boots
Purchasing from NPIP farms

As a farming community, we must work together to prevent the spread of HPAI. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, I’m happy to help!
