Introducing the Midnight Jackraptor Project at Black Fox Farm! 🖤🐓
Meet the four foundation ladies kicking off our newest personal breeding project: the Midnight Jackraptors. First and foremost, huge respect to Scott for the outstanding, admirable work he has poured—and continues to pour—into developing the American Jackraptor. We love everything about the structure, vitality, and unmistakable raptor presence he has built into these birds, and our goal is to preserve that exact foundation while taking the palette in a darker direction: we want to paint them BLACK. Here at Black Fox Farm, spooky vibes are a year-round lifestyle, not just an October mood. These four lovely girls are the starting line for locking in that signature Jackraptor silhouette alongside:
Skin: Solid black or deep mulberry skin & black toenails
Plumage: Fully jet-black feathers, no color leakage

We couldn't be more excited to watch these four grow out and help us bring the Midnight Jackraptor vision to life. Follow along as we take this project into the shadows! 🌑✨

Okay now that has GOT to be our first Raptor egg! I'm nearly certain this is truly the first and the other one was a trick from my EE flock! It was even laid in the nest box

Could it be!? 👀 That tall boy was in a nest with the one other bird laying today... Unless I totally blanked last night AND this morning... That would mean that we have out FIRST raptor egg!?

That little egg is from Helen, the odd Easter egger who happens to live with my 18 raptors. The brown egg is from my other, separated flock of EE just as comparison.

My only hesitation is the color. It looks oddly similar to the green color of that little egg.

An interesting social development going on in the coop this evening.

Obelisk of the "Kid flock" has been perching there (Left) for a week or so - sometimes he gets a little beat up over this choice. Tonight he chose to bring his choice of ladies to the big perch too.. This left Veda feeling out of place and unsure of where to sit. Veda had been making moves to be in charge over Vesper but I don't think he'll win that one, so its surprising to see Obelisk rattling his confidence. The kids are catching up in size.

Thank you... This has been Chicken Social! 🤣
