Spread the news, our ranch cabin is available for rent! Located a couple miles south of Mother Neff State Park and a few miles west of Belton Lake. It's a peaceful place to relax and watch the sun set after a hard day's work.

We forgot to post before & after pics of the cabin! We finished updating it a couple weeks ago by completing the metal ceilings, fresh coat of paint, deep cleaning, new blinds, new fridge, new countertop stove, new toilet seat that fits, and new heat/air unit. We are loving how bright and rustic it looks!

If you come to the ranch, you’ll want to visit Mother Neff State Park while you are here.

This is Isabella "Mother" Neff and her son (and future governor of Texas) Pat Neff. If you've been to Mother Neff State Park, you've been to the park named for this woman. Mother Neff State Park was the first official state park of Texas, created in 1937. Texas Gov. Pat Neff, one of the founders of today’s state park system, named the park for his mother, Isabella. She was known by the community as “Mother Neff” because of her initial six-acre donation of land for a public gathering place and for her hospitality to cowboys on the Chisholm Trail. Mother Neff often gave these travelers pie and coffee as they went on their way. She was a great Texas lady.

It's funny how things grow and take on lives of their own. Mother Neff's initial gift of six acres was matched by 250 acres from the state of Texas and the first state park was born. This, over time, became Enchanted Rock, Palo Duro Canyon, Colorado Bend, Bayou Bend, and every other state park you've ever loved. So the next time you're lying out on under the stars in Davis Mountains, tell your children the story of Mother Neff and how things grow in ways you never expect them to and say silent "thank you" sacred to her memory.

I'm inspired now. I'm going to make up a bumper sticker that reads "God Bless Mother Neff!
